Sidibe will be fine on defense from day 1. As I've said, he's an outstanding defender and knows the zone. Offensively, he's raw but the materials are there for him to contribute. He can be a huge plus on defense.

This is the kid who did his best to ostracize Matt Moyer last summer, calling him "white" because of his academic/violin interests, to the point it became an on-court problem in practices.

Loved Thompson's offensive skill and think he had a certain energy that could've been positively channeled toward team goals, but I'm not shedding any tears over this departure.

Now...what grossly undersized forward will be thrown into the center position in November once Boeheim decides that Chukwu shouldn't play? We've lost our two best/worst options.

On the family medical issues, sometimes the NCAA gives a waiver for a kid to not sit out a year when they transfer in those cases (in order to be closer to home). Hmm.

I never understood that. If the point of the transfer is to be closer to home, you can still sit out a year while you are in school near home. Why is it imperative to play immediately? Just sit a year like a transfer is supposed to.

Kid had very good offensive skills. Terrible defender and shot every time he touched the ball. He was nowhere close to being a winning player.

If he was going to keep being a black hole that plays no D and a general pain in the ass to the program, then he wouldn't have been a player for us anyway. Some people just don't have it upstairs. What are you going to do?

One year to get through and then we've got Bazley.

I wouldn't call those offensive skills. That implies more than just scoring. He didn't understand the concept of a good pass, or working within the system, so let's just call him a scorer. He shot early and often, but he wasn't suited to our offense.

This is like losing a player to a knee injury early in the season. Other players will have to fill in and step up. It's going to be a long season with no many wins. Oh boy, I kind of feel bad for JB. I don't think he get's enough respect in the media. It's really sad. Oh well. One thing about being an Orange fan is it takes intestinal fortitude.

Wow. Hugely disappointing decision, and confounding one as well. Wish him luck, but whatever the issues were from his perspective he could've handled this situation SO much better. Can't say I'll miss his drama, but was definitely looking forward to seeing how he'd developed since last year.
