Few things from cruising this thread. Overall The timing of all this just sucks.
1. If Autry just had shown any sort of fight and got just 1 real win in the NonCon we could say maybe there’s hope, even though we really know there’s not. Nope each game is worse than the next so each week feels like there is long lasting damage being done to the brand.
2. JJ is out so the rest of the country and a lot of people that tune in every few weeks see that headline and think oh your best player is hurt so that must be it. JJ ain’t saving us and in fact may be part of a deeper problem.
3. There is a very strange dynamic right now where the youth show promise (although with little control) while the veterans are showing they should be sent to mid major teams. Opposite of what most good programs are dealing with.
4. There is a once in generation father son Carmelo / Kiyan thing going on. I’m convinced this will freeze the administration into poor decisions or better to say no decisions with Autry just because they don’t want to rock the boat. We know the recruits won’t save us.
5. As much as we want to say the coaching search will be successful because anyone can do a better job than what we saw this season, that’s just not true. There’s old experienced coaches in P5 that made their bones when the league was much different and then young guys that are up and coming but is that just a few lucky seasons at a mid major programs. We saw Autry be one of the only ACC coaches ever to win 20 games his rookie year in the ACC and look where we are now. This is a terrible time to be desperate to find a new coach. Might as well be trying to hit a 15 on the roulette wheel.
Yea. Terrible timing.
