In 63 years. In 1961-62 our record was 2-22. From February 1961 to February 1962 we set a then NCAA record losing streak of 27 games in a row. Marc Guley was the coach. Games were played at the War Memorial. Attendance was minimal (e.g. 939, 482). The next year Fred Lewis arrived and shortly thereafter Dave Bing and Jim Boeheim and the trajectory of the program has been ever upward . . . until this year.

Wow, Marc Guley -- talk about a "blast from the past". Our family moved to Cazenovia in the mid-70's and Marc Guley was my gym teacher at Burton St Elementary (Cazenovia School System). Guley was a good instructor too in terms of the fundamentals (at least at that age) -- I learned how to shoot a layup from him -- he referred to it as the "bread and butter" shot. And yes, he told us that he used to coach Syracuse, but there was no internet back then so we had no idea his coaching record was so poor his last two years (6-41). So we all looked up to him as a bit of an icon (with no major league team in Syracuse for any sport, the "Orangemen" were the only game in town) -- and back then SU was a basketball school, not a football school (although obviously when Guley was actually coaching, SU was by far a football school as he overlapped Ernie Davis, Jim Brown, and the 1959 National Championship).

It's not Red.....it's the damn ACC ! How can it be possible that we are in the ACC ?!?!?!?!?! I mean what has the world come to?

We now have multiple people suggesting that the Chancellor is diverting funds from athletics to fund some shadowy project. But no one either knows what it is, or will say.

The weaponization of insider info shall continue! ;)
Let’s get Jack Bauer on it… yes I have been binge watching 24 this festive season.

Nil and the school's money are two different items as you know. I don't know where the
money is going. We shouldn't be taking the bus to NYC and Boston.
So I could be wrong but I don't think the money is going anywhere yet? I think what's going on now is belt tightening in the athletic department so they can come up with the $20M for the NCAA settlement. Like I said I could be way off but from what ive heard with different programs within school ie taking buses, not hiring all allotted coaches it sure seems like we are penny pinching everywhere we can maybe besides football

Round trip a private flight to NYC would be maybe $25k. Imagine if you're a booster that just donated $25k and you get to watch the Maryland game knowing that.

Donations aren't just extra money that spills over. People care where their money goes.

someone correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the ACC deal something like 40m annually for schools? So if your thought is true, the problem dash is speaking on still remains. Where’s the rest of the money going?

I think we get more than that from the ACC but that money has already spent & allocated for in the budget. The point I'm trying to make is we need to add another $20M to the athletic budget next year without an increase in revenue from ACC which is why I think the school is trying to cut corners where they can

Is it coincidental we have all these unauthorized drone sightings making news? And SU just happens to be partners with the federally recognized UAV corridor.

Who's Worse? Chancellor Syverud or Chancellor Palpatine?
Define "worse". Sheev was highly effective; SU would be closing in on Ivy status and about to break ground on their new med school with him at the helm.

Great story! I was also living in Cazenovia at the time when Marc was my gym teacher too:)

I’m graduating from Syracuse in the spring…. without an NCAA tournament appearance in my time on campus.
Unbelievable. You also missed out on MSG big east tournaments. Those use to be a fun trip to look to forward to every year.

Yeah, maybe that's the source of the penny pinching with the NIL going school-side next year??

The years of a big surplus to go elsewhere are likely over... and Red stumbling through a historically abysmal season with home game attendances cratering is not going to help matters short term, that's for sure.

Red needs more time. Just wanted to test this awful hot take out to see if it fits me.

Nope it doesn’t
How can we compete with Wake Forrest? Their NIL resources are vast. Their facilities are NBA quality. I hear every player has a personal masseuse and pedicures on demand. I know things, insider things, and you guys have no idea how we can’t match up to Wake.

How do you sell this as a vision to Melo and Kiyan to keep them on board? I mean Donnie, a pre season possible first rounder after 1 year isn’t on many draft boards that I’ve seen anymore. He has things that he needs to improve on but Red has done nothing to help him develop and feature as a high end prospect either…
