We are the 7th all time program in wins. The 7th all time winning FBS program* is Penn State. Would Penn State stand by their man in a losing season like the season ours is shaping up to be? There isn’t a historical precedent because their bad seasons are 7-5, but I tend to think they would not. While penn state has more money, we should freaking act like and set expectations in line with our historical stature and accomplishments.


Technically Yale is 7th in all time cfb wins but I omitted them for obvious reasons.

Temple is 6th, and they gave Aaron McKie who is probably a more high profile alum/player in their program, 4 years… but that’s with the first two during COVID.

If we're bad enough to miss the conf tourney, I wouldn't be happy with this approach but agree that I could very easily see it happen.

That should have been the first conversation the AD had with AA upon his gifted hiring.

Dino had earned the right to get hired, and get a second contract. Autry has earned nothing except being in the right place at the right time.

We are overrating high school recruiting on this board. Unless it is top-end talent like Flagg I would rather recruit portal players. Freshmen that aren't like Flagg just aren't ready to contribute at a high level. Then if they are of the quality of Freeman and Moore we will lose them by year 2 either pro or transfer. Freshmen aren't worth the time and effort. They should be looked at as bench players etc. Too many freshmen are not a good thing going forward.

Everyone says the Red can’t coach defense, but when he had his better defensive players on the floor the defense was good. When Sallis in the second half kept getting into the lane he subbed Petar for Lampkin and he hedged out totally stopping Sallis. Freeman finally started hedging too and it stopped him from getting into the lane. The problem is our better shooters can’t keep anyone in front or they just get backed down. We just have some really poor defenders whose motors are not fast enough (including Freeman). We are very limited on offense with no-one who is able to get their own shot. We are going to struggle down the stretch against everyone because we don’t have a go to guy. JJ might be able to, but that’s still to be determined. Everyone wants to blame Red for everything. Did he put this roster together with a bunch of misfits? Yes, but let him recruit his own players and let’s see what he does. I don’t blame him for not subbing in the second half. How do you have any confidence in Bell and Moore when they can’t defend and when Bell gets pressured he just gives the ball away. Cuffe and Taylor play their butts off. Taylor is beginning to show he can shoot a little, but Cuffe hasn’t shown any consistency with his outside shooting. Today we were hurt by Lampkin and Freeman playing soft. Freeman has to turn his motor on or he can’t play at this level. He also needs to mix it up inside and want to try and score on the block. He’s getting pushed all over and not fighting back. This team did a lot of good things today, but your starters can’t let you get down 14 before the first tv timeout.

True but that’s 5 more mins than anyone outside of CNY has thought about Syracuse hoops in 5 years. The first time in years I’ve even heard people mention Syracuse sports was the Miami game and then the Bowl game on Fox.

Was out to eat for the game 2 hours outside of Cuse today. Bar was packed, there were 15 TVs and not a single one had ESPN2 on today. With football and everything else on we were not even the 15th choice for just one random person. By the time i got a beer we were down 16-2 and I didn’t ask for a channel change.

The four guys coming in next year are all better all around players than anyone we currently have on the roster. We are also in good shape with Smith (class of 26) and a few others. No one thought Red couldn’t coach when he beat Carolina last year. Red needs to recruit tough, hard-nosed players that are skilled. Kind of the opposite of what JB brought in late in his career. JB usually found skilled kids, but not physical, tough kids. His teams were mostly finesse. That’s why he liked playing zone. If Red wants man defense, he has to recruit a lot differently.

Not true. He doesn’t make final decisions for JB recruits. He has three of his recruits on this team. Freeman, Moore and Petar. I don’t believe there’s a sophomore on this team.
