And helping Gerry from what I’ve been told.Didn't he move on to Binghamton? I don't follow the guy so I really don't know.

He is on record that he didn't do anything without first passing it by SU compliance. He was doing things the right way. Who cares that he didn't want to contribute to the collective. As long as he was in compliance and lock in step with the coaching staffs it shouldn't matter.Because that’s how the school that he supposedly loves wanted to handle things.
My hunch is that he wanted to do it on his own so he could control the publicity of it. That’s a big part of how he markets himself. And again, that’s fine. But that’s not how SU wanted it to be.
And I get SU’s perspective. It’d be both a pain and a potential issue to have someone going rogue with NIL. What happens when Weitsman wanted to pay someone that SU didn’t want paid?
Once again, that is his one-sided PR spin on it. "Doing things the right way".He is on record that he didn't do anything without first passing it by SU compliance. He was doing things the right way. He's also on record as saying that no one ever went to jail for the crime he committed, and it took me Googling for 30 seconds to find out that wasn't true.He is on record that he didn't do anything without first passing it by SU compliance. Cool. Good for Gerry. Because of this discussion I perused Weitsman's Insta and didn't see anything related to Sienna. So I guess it is possible for him to do things quietly if he wants to.And helping Gerry from what I’ve been told.
One thing that is certainly worth note here is JB not spending nearly the amount of time around the program this year as compared to last year. Last year he was around every day. I know he wanted to hand it off more to Red this year but that hasn’t worked out. JB also had knee surgery too and has been gone but I think this is playing a major factor this year that he hasn’t been around a ton. Everytime I’ve been to Melo center this year he has not been there.
So he wanted to wine and dine 17-year-olds and show them a good time? Bit odd when you type that part out, right? If you know Adam at all, you know he does things his way. He would stay within regulations. But, he wanted to bring guys in on his dime, wine them dine them, show them a good time and sign then. there is nothing wrong with that. The university was scared, I don't blame them. Other donors didn't like it. So, that was the issue. Why wouldn't he just donate to the collective, that is not what he wanted to do. He's free to do what he wants with his money. Unfortunately, there was no compromise even presented.
I wouldn't type THAT. So weird. So he wanted to wine and dine 17-year-olds and show them a good time? Bit odd when you type that part out, right?
Totally accurate that he can do what he wants with his money. That said, the way he "wanted to help," doesn't seem altruistic to me, rather self motivated. Again that is fine, but lets not make him out to be some saintly philanthropist. As others have noted, he gained through his connection to the university. If you know Adam at all, you know he does things his way. He would stay within regulations. I never tried to make him out to be saintly. He definitely likes to be seen.Totally accurate that he can do what he wants with his money. heck he was the one being quoted after JB killed someone, which is crazy.
I’m known for many things, but my candor sits atop the list.
If they cant get treadmills then the big money isn't behind him now either, sounds like he should've asked forgiveness instead of permission.I am not sure that JW had the power to do anything more than what he did. There were a lot of big guns between the decision to fire JB. Which he ended up doing. Yes, he should have done that earlier. No question. I don't think he had the Board behind him. Or the big money.
No one in the admin can be dumb enough to think this is an assistant coach problem.I suspect that Wildhack will force assistant coach changes after the year is over. Which imo will just prolong the inevitable. We need to clean house. The attendance the rest of the year will be dreadful. Maybe that loss of income will be eye opening.
Its always about optics, thats why miami got skewered for their billionaire "look at me" donor. You dont see the winning schools deal with this because their donors dont need the attention, they are successful and support the school, they dont need everyone to KNOW that they were the ones who got a player to commit.Entertaining few pages of reading about Weitsman. Nobody should bemoan funding or oil money or Phil knight when Syracuse quite simply ran their program loving billionaire off the reservation.
Do people really not care because he 'used' Syracuse and is self serving? Syracuse would be using him right back for his money. This is mutually beneficial usage.
It's such a Syracuse thing though. I'm sure Syracuse didn't like the attention of things like Choppa cause it's always about optics for SU. The landscape has changed over the past two years though and nothing he was doing is against the rules. Certainly not now.
I wouldn't type THAT. So weird.
If I had 5m to donate yearly for NIL, I would want zero spotlight. All I want is good seats at the primo events and a winning team. Its always about optics, thats why miami got skewered for their billionaire "look at me" donor. You’re right, we should have a couple billionaire donors like that. Its always about optics, thats why miami got skewered for their billionaire "look at me" donor. You dont see the winning schools deal with this because their donors dont need the attention, they are successful and support the school, they dont need everyone to KNOW that they were the ones who got a player to commit.
I’d be the same way. But, why does it matter if Adam likes to be seen and do things the way he wants. So long as it doesn’t cause issues with the NCAA?If I had 5m to donate yearly for NIL, I would want zero spotlight. All I want is good seats at the primo events and a winning team.
And most of our NIL donors are like this.
Because the university didnt want him to do that. Its Syracuse university, not [insert donor name here] University so if you want to be a benefactor, you better do it the way the program you are supporting (not running) wants it done. If they want to run a team the way they want to, then go buy a professional teamI’d be the same way. But, why does it matter if Adam likes to be seen and do things the way he wants. Idk, can you name an attention seeking NIL donor from Alabama, Duke, Tennessee, Iowa State, Auburn? Doesnt seem like they need to deal with it on the basketball sideMiami got skewered because the rules were different than they are now. Lots of people like attention. In today’s climate, it’s not a reason to disassociate with a billionaire when you need their money to fund NIL.
Are you ok with donor’s names on buildings?Because the university didnt want him to do that.
