ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

UVa had a home and home with USC in 2008 (C'ville) and 2010 (LA). We've also had a home ands home with UCLA (2014 and 2015) and Oregon (2013 and 2016).
I'm suggesting that if the reports and conjecture are correct then USC may not be an available opponent. 9 league games + 1 ACC + 1 B1G = 11. Leaving one opening. If ND isn't considered ACC, they would be the 12th. If they are, USC can argue that the ND game takes care of their ACC obligation. And the number "41" was mentioned several times yesterday, indicating that for purposes of the alliance, ND is ACC.

And if 41 is the number of schools pledged to this alliance, wouldn't that indicate that Swarbrick was involved in the Phillips-Warren-Kliavkoff discussions?

PAC-12 and Big Ten are going to go to 8 conference games.
USC will likely use ND to satisfy its ACC component and then play 1 B1G team.

The SEC wanted Virginia Tech when they took Missouri but Tech showed loyalty when Virginia bailed them out.
This is poppycock. Message board fodder, nothing more.

Finebaum said it. He is a freaking mouthpiece for the agenda the SEC wants out.

Missouri was not their first pick. Missouri agreed to go to the SEC East to facilitate the move.
The SEC wanted an eastern school and VPI was their target.
VPI has a huge ROTC program they were going to be paired with A&M and have an annual matchup as crossover rivals.
VPI showed loyalty to the ACC.
This was in 2012 not now.

We shall see, but USC likes to play games on the East Coast here and there. They've played in numerous Kickoff Classics (one against us), plus home-and-homes with BC, SU, FSU, Ohio State, Virginia, Virginia Tech dating to the last 90s.

Hey, I get it. He is a mouthpiece. Agreed.

But the Big10 also had its eyes on SU at one time. To say we were ever close to joining a Midwestern-facing conference is really just not accurate. The SEC likely had some notions about the Hokies, but that does not mean they "wanted them."

We could certainly find many Finebaum quotes/tweets that were ridiculously off base, too.

Lastly, while the SEC was not always as omnipotent as they are now, let's just say if they wanted a team or school, they get their mark.

I will relabel it "Twitter fodder."

The SEC wanted Virginia Tech.
Virginia Tech didn’t want to leave the ACC. This was a decade ago.
The SEC needed a 14th team.
Missouri was their safety school who agreed to whatever the SEC wanted to get a lifeline.

Missouri was not their first choice.
The SEC wanted VPI.
I hope Hokie Mark finds this thread to enlighten you.

Mizzou wanted the B1G bad.

As every ACC football team would want top play SC, if ND gets that slot, and it is annual, then ND needs to give back to the ACC. I think ND should play 6 games per year against ACC teams to cover keeping all of us from playing SC.

No

Here's where all this gets interesting. It's no longer just the signed deal with the ACC ND will have to contend with. ND has the ACC plus the other 2 conferences in survival mode. As said before, ND exists as in independent at the discretion of the rest of us. I love that ND thinks USC values it's game with them more than the forthcoming PAC12 TV deal money, but I'm not so sure. I think when push comes to shove, ND will have to stand down, make some concessions or join a conference.

The commissioners of the conferences have a duty to pursue their conferences' interests aggressively, right? It should be a fireable offense - with cause - for an ACC commissioner to agree to any association that grants a non-member exclusive access to a marquee team within the association, to the detriment of all the actual teams in his conference. Fireable, on the spot.

This deal is about stability, right? From the mouths of the commishes. Kick ND to the freaking curb if they won't join one of the conferences in the association. Let the SEC take a run at them, or the G5. Oooo, what instability that would result in!

ND.

Again, the game will survive and be played on a yearly basis. History and relationships tell us this fact. But again keep chasing the thought that SC will drop us, that is cool.

That would be a unilateral breach of several ND/ACC contracts subjecting the ACC to significant damages awards.

ND and the ACC are legally/contractually joined at the hip, as is/status quo, for 15 more years.

Such talk only exists on message boards, not in ACC conference offices, boardrooms or its attorneys' offices.

You are describing why ND is a parasite. Let them rot in the Big Ten.
It’s the only way the fanbase gets what they deserve.

Again fine every year ND plays at Clemson and Florida State and every year their home games are rotated among Duke, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Boston College.

ACC “honors” the agreement and gives their TV partner what they want.

SHhhhhh, let them dream...

Oh, of course, I'm not doubting that there are legal agreements in place. And under the terrible scenario being contemplated here, I'd sure as hell hope that the ACC commissioner is figuring out how to finagle the previous agreement legally, or work around it, etc. If the ND-ACC agreement became detrimental to the real conference members, then hell yes we should figure out how to break that (now) adversarial relationship.

Agreed how can Philips justify to his membership he is allowing this alliance to play ND as an ACC opponent to the detriment of his member schools who would want those games.

Your vast knowledge of EVERYTHING draws me back. How you treat people with respect just makes my heart flutter. It is amazing to observe.
Here is the difference between you and me. I am Syracuse fan and this is my teams board. How I talk to other Syracuse fans is none of you bleeping business.
Go Find Yourself. Your parasite of a school does nothing but make this chit more complicated.
I enjoy the guests we get from other ACC schools. ND fans never.
The arrogance and hubris of the ND fanbase makes Ohio State or Michigan fans seem humble. It would be better for the ACC if ND were a full member but the ND fanbase arrogance makes so I would rather have less money for my school than be associated fully with ND.
So well done.
I could give a chit to go an ND board but here you are. Glad I entertain you it shows how boring ND news is.

If the endgame is "Gang of 41" vs "SEC and whatever else is left" then let's steer things toward a championship game between the winners of those two mega "conferences". And the Gang of 41 can adopt as one of its by-laws that only full members of the Gang's conferences can participate in the playoff to determine who represents the Gang of 41. There is a natural way to address that, written into the current legal agreement between the ACC and ND.
