Adrian Cole and Luke Benson in the portal.

Gotta correct you on that. Aaron has been a tremendous blocker in one of the top 10 rushing offenses in the nation. Don’t think there is a better blocking H-tight end in the MAC. Has not been used as a receiver but has accepted role on a team that Saturday can win its first MAC title since 1972. His blocking, smarts and hands give him a chance to play at next level. Still bleeds Orange. No SU tight end has caught more TDs.

So basically his same role at SU.

And so it begins. We fire a coach to help you, and you still leave. Why not wait to see where it plays out? But this is the new world of football transfer portals. Got to get in early so you can grab a spot with a scholly.
Makes me concerned it is an issue with the HC

I hate to loose any player. However what I find interesting is how everyone is upset they are leaving but when they were recruited everyone was upset because of their ratings.
Cole was an .8156
Benson was an .82

So either the staff is good at evaluating players and developing them or the two leaving is not as big of an impact as suggested.

Bensons potential was he could run.. Never really saw TE plays as his biggest moments were a couple streak passes.. He was hurt this year never looked as fast and dropped several big passes. It would be great to use a TE more but they have to be open too. Blocking he really struggled more of an over sized WR than a TE

Cole was buried.

I'll be shocked if Benson lands at a P5.

Like everyone else I wish he got more targets but don't tell me he couldn't have earned a bigger role in the gameplan by outperforming our very mediocre WRs in practice.
If Garrett Williams goes pro, Cole is projected to start for us next year and if he doesn't, he's our 3rd corner. He played a good amount this year and played well for us.

Dakota coming back is a positive. potentially a strong offensive line. Elmore adds a lot, as well, and Mang could come into his own. Tucker returning is obviously critical. Schrader could blossom with a full year and the right OC. Young receiving core needs to step up, but there is talent to work with. There are reasons for optimism that the offense could be much better.

I don’t care anymore. I’m starting to dislike everything about college football. The portal, 24/7 use of private jets, stupid salaries, have and have nots, etc

100% all just too absurd at this point. Like I said, I am not going to change anything I do with regard to Syracuse football but I will just wait for the team and the staff to run out first game and hope for best. It's just so out of whack. It's stupid

Blaming people for this, who is leaving, this guy goes here, extensions, buy outs, portals, NIL, sick of it all

Nobody can tell me that outside of the SEC and a few other programs maybe 5-6 more, coaches and AD's aren't sitting back and saying to themselves W..T.... Fighting a fire with a shot glass full of water and bar straw

Losing this much depth is absolutely terrible for coming seasons no matter how people try to figure out a way to downplay it in their head.

You arent wrong.

Every transfer that isn't a WR is a loss really.

Not sure what we can do to encourage our wide outs to transfer I'll take pretty much anyone else.

I can undertand Benson, but if I was his father I would advise him that there is no harm in waiting a bit to see who the new OC was.

Trust me, his father and everyone else in his family were very much done with Syracuse.

Actually surprised he made it to the end of the season

If you’re unhappy, leave. Bfd

you have 90 plus kids on a roster, not everyone is going to be 5 x 5. Is that a shock?

Hey, don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just telling you what his parents were saying at almost every game

Based on what i heard at the Rutgers game i was expecting this. Actually worse.

So why bring babers back if we’re gonna have a complete roster rebuild anyways? It’s just going to make it that much harder on the next coach.

Benson was good on special teams although I think he had a couple block in the back penalties. He made a nice tackle on the INT by Schrader in the BC game. Ran down that big, slow DePalma LB who made the pick. I was afraid DePalma was going to rumble for more yards or even a pick 6 or lateral it to a faster DB. Benson ran him down from behind and prevented further damage.

Unless we crush Portal and bring in 8-9 players who end up contributing at some level

Currently 24 open schollies and 10 verbals? Is that correct?

Going to be very interesting to see how we fill out this roster before next season. Creating alot extra work for the staff.

Hopefully they can get 6-7 legit HS kids between now and the 15th and then another 3-4 before February. That way they would only need about 7-8 transfers to fill the roster and have some depth

Otherwise ...

History thus far says even if we figure a way to grab 8 that 4 or 5 will contribute. Our depth is going to be a real mess though if we don't go get at least that many.
