Buddy suspended for Duke

Can someone quote the NCAA or ACC rule that mandates a suspension if you throw a "punch?" I see the penalty for a Flagrant 2 is an ejection. If the officials had reviewed and ejected Buddy it's story over, but since they didn't, the leagus should step in after the fact and impose a much stricter penalty?

What is the League going to do with the State player who fouled Buddy prior to the punch? He clearly fouled Buddy. They may not want to punish Buddy because then they are going to have to explain the lack of a whistle on State also.

They have gone long past giving a crap about that stuff for us. It's almost expected that we get shorted on whistles as an outsider in the ACC.

“Anytime an individual uses a closed fist in an unsportsmanlike manner, it shall be deemed that the individual has initiated a fighting act and shall be penalized accordingly“

followed by

”The first time an individual participates in a fight during the season (including exhibition games), the individual shall be suspended from participating in the team’s next regular-season game (not an exhibition contest), including tournament competition“

That language does leave wiggle room.

“Penalized accordingly” may not be a full game suspension, they may not deem what occurred a “fight”.

So, do you want the league to award a post-game foul? All that would have been was a routine foul (and a borderline one at that), nothing more.

So the officials went to the monitor, after the SECOND dead ball foul after the incident occurred. That was the errant pass by FSU.

Sid’s second foul was the first dead ball.

I think that prevented them from acting on Buddy’s incident.

Totally. the “closed fist is deemed a fighting act” is the part I was more referring to

The infamous Iowa game where the ref called a foul on Roosevelt Bouie and then said to him , "that's your 5th Rosie you're out of here"

The Marquette over and back, the Butler suplex, the phantom out of bounds on Cooney (we actually survived that one).

Just proud of the work done here while I was in a meeting.

ACC didn't suspend Frank Howard when he tried tripping Zion in the ACCT, Juwan Howard's suspension was only 5 games because they didn't want him missing the BIG tourney. P5 conferences don't like suspending anyone for conference or NCAAT which might help buddy.
