Coaching is terrible.

I remember in 2017 when we started conference play and Frank Howard got banished to the bench in conference play against Miami and JG took over as a 40 minute guy and the team turned around the season.

JB made the adjustment.

He has stunted KR’s confidence by not just giving the rope he has give JG3.
Maybe JGlll was quicker last year.

What blew my mind was when JB said—years ago—we only have about a dozen offensive plays because our players can’t learn/remember more than that. That was a pretty telling illustration of ‘lack of responsibility’ and/or laziness.

I wonder how other teams manage to learn more. How do football players do it?

One change I would like to see with the current group of guys that play is move Marek to Forward and try Guerrier or Braswell at center. It couldn’t make things worse there on the interior.
would not move guerrier-- it would ruin him.

This kind of comment irks me. I understand it, but I disagree. I think it would be equally wrong to say that John Thompson or Jim Calhoun or Dean or Self are and always will be the face of Georgetown, UConn, Carolina, or Kansas. Even Wooden. Those guys represent icons in history. But you move on. To me, it’s like standing in the middle of Manhattan and saying it’s the center of the universe. That’s an emotional/nostalgic perspective, but then when you see the earth within the cosmos, it’s a sensibility that is rendered a bit silly.

JB had his time. We owe him nothing except respect and well wishes... but goodwill erodes. Legacies get tarnished. And people who have a great deal of pride often don’t recognize how much damage they are doing as they try to recover from the deficits that erode those legacies.
I'm sorry my silly lack of perspective irked you. I will consider trying to "see the earth within the comos" in the future (whatever TF that means on a fan board). But, until they erase JB's name from the court SU plays on, he will be the face of the program to me.

Well, a few things:
I didn’t call your perspective silly. I actually said I understand it. The silly part was specifically about the center of the universe but, versus realizing we are but a small speck when you look at us in a much broader context. Then, you moved the goalposts, because you first suggested JB will (always?) be the face of the ‘franchise.’ And that’s the part I disagree with and I named examples. Dean (and Wooden?) have names on courts/buildings, too and I don’t believe either are currently thought of as the face of the program in any practical or meaningful sense.

No reason to take this personally. I also said “comments like these,” so the argument is less about you than it is about a commonly expressed sentiment. You could have just supported your own argument instead of getting pissy about someone disagreeing with a concept.

No doubt. And we owe JB so very much for his long run during his glory years. He is and will be the face of Syracuse basketball. It's so sad to see it play out like this at the twilight of his career.
We don't owe JB anything. He is paid very well to win basketball games. Once that is not happening it's time to move on, legend or not.
