That's great. I simply provide statistics. Like 4-16.
I know what he shot and it could have been any player and I wouldn't come on a forum and bash him. I'm sure he is disappointed in himself. If you saw him in a bar tonight would you buy him a beer or tell him he sucked

Dude what

TC is on of the few guys that I can remember that was a better shooter in high school than in college.

Wow that was cruel.
I have praised TC for his hustle and D but he is a horrible shooter and getting worse. He needs to stop shooting. When you go 0 for... game after game you need as a team player to realize that you dont have it anymore and he doesnt. The truth hurts but he is killing this team with his poor shot selection and the fact that he is missing wide open looks. In short he is done as a shooter and he needs to realize this adjust his game

Find the post where I've said anything negative about him. I'll wait right here. Tell ya what, you agree to read more and post less, and we'll call it even. :)
Don't know where your coming from you replied to my post first. Maybe it was a mistake I'm just supporting cooney.

We're all frustrated, so let's just let it ride. I'm going out for a beer. Or several ...

I don't think his shot selection was that poor this game from the 3-point line. Most were open shots which he missed. My guess is he is shooting about 25-30% in ACC games on 3-pointers. Hard to win when your SHOOTING guard shoots like that. I agree with you -- Cooney should stop shooting and see what happens.

What's comical is they only gave him 2.

Well that's what he had.

He will go down in SU history as one of the most prolific shooters of all time. The coon dog is insatiable like a lab who will fetch that ball thrown into the lake until he drowns. He is simply a great dog who cant hunt. Charlie hustle without a bat, the closer who gives up the bean in the ninth, 8 ball in the corner pocket.. not, in short always rolling a 7. If we are to make the dance my hope is that he plays great D. Takes it to the hole which he did well today and never takes another three. NEVER as he is killing us. When he goes 0 for 50 each and every game he becomes a major liability. He has without a doubt cost us a minimum of 4 games this year. If he just didnt shoot we win those games. Please coon dog read this and holster your weapon as it is a danger to your team. Stand down coon dog please give that poor right arm of yours a rest.
Make sure you give your keys to a friend. Please don't drive home

I'll miss Cooney as a person but not as a player overall - I had greater expectations of him when he first came to Syracuse but for me he did not live up to them. I won't miss him taking so many terrible shots which were essentially turnovers and running around like his head was cut off. I wish him all the best and hope he has a fine international career before heading into real life.

Yeah i find the kid to be the most protected player by JB since Gerry McNamara. GMac wasn't polarizing for our fanbase thought 2003 alone did enough for legacy. JB was pissed at Big East assistant coaches calling him overrated and was mad at the Post Standard for running that poll which trashed Gmac.

Cooney is not worthy of the defense he gets from JB. The kid is a solid player but he isn't a 33 MPG kid. He should be reigned in but JB is too loyal and that is a good thing but also frustrating.

I just want to make the NCAAT and enjoy the end of the season. He is a good kid but so were Demetrius Nichols and Andy Rautins and those guys stepped up their Senior years.

I believe it was the D.O. that ran that poll.

He's shooting 33% (32.84% to be more exact) in ACC play from deep. Not great, not bad. I think it's less than 1 standard deviation below average.

However, that 33% is a bit misleading. every time the shot clock is running down, his teammates pass him the ball and have him toss up a shot that has little chance of going in. Having said that, the kid almost never makes a big shot. The 2 guard is a position this board loves to beat the crap out of. G-mac got it. Andy got it. he was called the anti g-mac on this very board. Triche got it. And Cooney has got it.

I have read your 1st paragraph like 6 times and can't figure out for the life of me what you're trying to say.

Agreed. I never expect him to hit last second shots.

I think the criticism of each one varied wildly though:

GMAC - I think people felt like he regressed over time.
Andy - I really don't remember much Andy hate, other than people thinking he was gifted a scholarship early on and didn't belong at this level. He seemed to win people over pretty easily once he was here for a bit.
Devo - Some people didn't like his demeanor, or defense.
Triche - People were frustrated because they felt like he had more - could have used his size better, exploited certain aspects of his game more, been more assertive.
Cooney - Eh, we're in the midst of this one...no need to go into it.

I look forward to reading your ode to Trevor Cooney after the final game of the season.

JB protected Gerry because of the stupid criticism he got from the paper about being overrated.

Gerry wasn't polarizing for our fanbase. He won us a NC in 2003. Those 6 3's against Kansas would have been enough on his own to have a great legacy. Our fanbase loved Gerry..

JB did has rant protecting Gerry after the 2006 BET game against Cincinnati and that last second game winner.

Cooney IMO hasn't done what Gerry did and has been treated by JB better than others on the same level.
