I've been as hard on TC as anyone, but let's not act surprised when he shoots something like 3-11 from the field and 2-7 from three.

It's not TC's fault he plays the number of minutes he does or that he starts.

This is now on JB.

I would love nothing more than for this team to get in the 8/9 game, get a win and upset a 1 seed. We have ceiling to do it, we just can't get there often enough to win 6 in a row (most likely).

At this point, TC is who he is. Anyone that says he's elite is wrong. Anyone that says defenses still focus on him, primarily, are wrong.

AND THAT IS FINE.

The kid is a solid player. He would have done much better with a consistent real PG presence and a team that could consistently push tempo so he could get spot up looks in transition, as well as drive and kicks.

But JB chose to use him in a different manner.

Kid will leave it all on the floor for us when the season is over, whenever that is. I believe he'll have a solid pro career overseas and I believe he'll continue to make SU proud.

I hope he hits a hot streak to end his career. He and G both deserve to go out on a high note.

I broke it down in another thread it isn't Cooney fault this has been the guard rotation the last 4 years.

How we have gone 4 years with only 2 decent guard "options" is on the coaching staff.

2013- MCW/Triche
2014- Ennis/Cooney
2015- Joseph/Cooney
2016- Gbinije/Cooney

We haven't developed a 3rd guard since we had Scoop/Triche/Waiter/MCW in 2012.

Our 3rd guard has been BELOW P5 level the last 4 years.
2013-Cooney
2014- Gbinije
2015- Patterson/Johnson
2016-Howard/Joseph

The staff has done nothing to challenge Cooney. There has been no depth for 4 years that is amazing. It is on them not Cooney. Cooney is a 3rd guard being asked to be a lead guard which he isn't.

I'm with you. I support our players unilaterally, and root for them all to succeed. I've been a staunch pro-Cooney guy his entire career. But at this point, I'm just fatigued with him. I can't defend the inconsistency. He's had big games, but never seems to hit big shots--and I'm not just talking about end of the games big shots. There are so many times during the season when we'd pass the ball around and swing it to him wide open in an important situation--clank. It's gotten to the point where I don't expect him to hit shots anymore when he puts it up. Unfortunately, he gets a lot of venom piled on his way, which is unseemly, but I get it. I honestly do.

I've been trying to figure out how to say this like you did. Fatigued is a great way to put it.

Plus, the meter worked such that it moved up according to how many threes he'd made on the season. I wanted to list him as shaky when he cracked 100.

I've been a big Cooney supporter, but I'm fatigued with him as well after Saturday, but if you're blaming Cooney for the Final Four loss you clearly don't remember that game.

Triche got hosed and MCW was awful that day. JB should of put the ball in Brandon's hands a lot earlier in that game.
