Just a gut job on an older house, I think. There's a bit of a lull in major new construction after this last flood of new units, though there's another large one in the immediate area in the pipeline for 2020 or 2021. Investors are waiting to see how quickly the new units will be absorbed.

Local slumlord OPR is continuing combining two lots for construction of large walkup buildings on these blocks right now. They probably have finishes like what's pictured in 611 Walnut and similar rents.

Good to know. Although if that is a gut job on the house that's currently there, then it looks like they will be completely altering the exterior as well.

Looks like the Craftsman Inn is about ready to reopen with the paving is done. I'm curious if they've set a date yet. They might get a few months of decent weather for that brand new patio before winter sets in.

This is interesting, looks like they are putting out feelers for a grocery in the building. I lived downtown for 5 years and personally don't think a grocery store is needed, but if their research finds one is needed and can be supported, great!

Yeah, people claim to want a grocery store downtown, but when push comes to shove and the selection and affordability can't match the big chains, they don't shop there regularly. I also wonder what percentage of people who live downtown actually work outside of downtown, thereby making it more likely that they will just stop at a Wegmans or the like after work instead of shopping downtown.

Beyond the grocery store, it sounds like they are also exploring a concept similar to the EXPO Market in downtown Buffalo, which operates like a more upscale food court, with several different fast-casual restaurants sharing a common space.

I live on tipp and still look for any excuse to hit the Dewitt Wegmans

Lack of a grocery store is the #1 complaint of downtown dwellers by a very very large margin.

I was at Skynrd last week and the farthest thing on my mind was how many walkers and bikers that couldn't use the trail.

There are 1000 other locations to walk, run or ride a bike. Go the the other side of the lake and run up and down the parkway.

The county was concerned about revenue and bringing it in. The trail is nice but doesn't bring in any revenue, doesn't really create headlines for the politicians like the Amp does.

Been there several times for several shows and it's pretty freaking awesome.

This is what I am thinking, I'm sure people want it so they can have the option, but how many people are going to want to walk across downtown with bags of groceries in their hands? It would be used for quick trips for one or two things, which I'm not sure would support a full fledged grocery store.

Also that Expo Market looks awesome, hopefully they do follow that concept.

My brother has a pontoon boat at the marina. i've suggested he taxi people back and forth.
 
I've never been to this Amp so I have a question, is it oriented so you can see the city skyline at night? I've been to a lot of Amps all over the country. I love when you can see a lit up city skyline in the background.

And SPAC is god awful. I live in it's shadow so I know. I detest going to shows there and it has to be pavilion, worst lawn seating ever. Driving in and out, parking, walking to and from, getting around in side, bathrooms etc, worst ever. You guys have it made with the Lakeview.

and Godsmack tonight at the Lakeview is going to be sick. They crushed it last week at SPAC.

It faces the other way, but because of that you get to see some of the best sunsets around

thanks for posting the survey. Something similar to Eataly in NYC would be fantastic, obviously doesn't have to be that big but the variety with a rooftop bar/restaurant would be a home run. Syracuse needs an authentic cheese shop and a real deli.

Lakeview is ten times better than SPAC. The sight lines and spacing are so much better!

Plus you get a great view of the lake.

A lot more people live downtown than there used to be. They have to get their groceries from somewhere, and many of them are students without cars.

SPAC has way better seating, vendors and toilets.
The AMP is a sewer for those on the lawn who have to use port-a-potties that haven't been emptied since five shows ago. Also far, far easier to get in and out of for car traffic.

No, it looks toward Liverpool, not Downtown. Nice view though at sunset. That's the best thing about it. Video screens are way too small. PA speakers not loud enough for the lawn. Yes, the pavilion seating is a must at SPAC, but they have about 3 times as many seats under the roof as the AMP. How do you build an outdoor arena that only has about 2,500 actual seats?
