Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

yes, I forgot he was part of the Sears takeover debacle. An American institution that had survived a century couldn't survive Mnuchin, sounds familiar.

Same - I always tie it so directly to Lampert, that part of it was forgotten. :(

Have I mentioned how much I've come to dislike Beak & Skiff?

Their business model changed a few years ago from selling ag products to encouraging assorted dirtbags to get liquored up on weekend afternoons and drive cars from their middle-of-nowhere location.

Not a fan. Went one Sunday last fall and it was like a slightly less gross State Fair clientele.

It’s a dangerous enough locale like you said, in the middle of no where, no real speed limits, the high hills, low valleys, curving roads without the drinking events. They still have the family attractions so it encourages families with kids to watch their parents and other adults drink and drive home. We have gone to O’Neills down the hill for decades. Beak and Skiff unfortunately had become a total zoo even parking and traffic wise well before their alcohol additions.

Will definitely be checking out O'Neill's, the last Beak & Skiff experience was a big turn-off.

There's a fire at Beak N Skiff this morning. Hopefully it isn't too bad...

I think it was the distillery version of this guy:

Grew up around there. In the 80's and 90's it was just another orchard. Would never get near the place now (at least during peak season).

Travel from the other direction and try Navarino Orchard

Went to Shakespeare in the Park last night at Thornden, the first time I've ever been. What a great time, not at all what I expected it would be. Stopped at XO Taco on the way home and had one of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. Their chips are amazing but I was nonplussed by the guac.

All in all it was a great night. People that bitch about Syracuse are imbeciles, there is so much to do on any given day

Thanks for the review !

Syracuse Shakespeare in the Park has been a fixture in Thorden Park for 25 years? 30 years? I'm happy that they've been able to keep going thru the pandemic. People are so eager for the Arts, and if the weather is nice it's definitely not a bad way to spend an evening. And Westcott St. has been a pretty good place for take out food. I'll take what I can get at this point.

Mayor : Drebin, I don't want anymore trouble like you had last year on the South Side. Understand? That's my policy.

Frank : Yes. Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards. That's *my* policy.

Mayor : That was a Shakespeare-In-The-Park production of "Julius Caesar", you moron!

Good stuff! I too went to XO Taco yesterday, planned to catch Much Ado About Nothing but missed it, hoping to get there next weekend. They could really use the support, Ronnie Bell has put so much work into those productions.

the entire cast was great but the two leads were outstanding. Next time I bring a blanket or chair and binoculars, probably a cooler too.
