Doug Marrone sighting

Go has a very concise narrative going. Marrone's early struggles were due yo the limitations of inheriting Grob's roster. Marrone's successes were due to Marrone's genius. Marrone's later failings were due to injuries and the still limited roster left by Grob. Marrone's later successes confirmed his genius. Shafer's first season success is due to Marrone's rebuild. Shafer's failure this season is due to McDonald.

It couldn't possibly be because maybe Marrone didn't leave us as talent rich as we'd hoped. Get it?

I don't think Go is happy we had a bad season, but it's clear that he's ecstatic McDobald flamed out. In a strange way McDonald has become the guardian of Marrone's legacy. Go thinks that because McDonald failed, Marrone's greatness is proven.

Why don't you keep your posts to your own thoughts instead of writing fiction about what I think.

We need some more sizzle over substance takes and egg parables.

Impossible to deal with, according to who, front office dopes who didn't do their jobs?

The only coach to leave by choice I believe was Pettine, who left for a HC job and took some guys with him. I four years here did anyone leave on a lateral move?

The Bills players were upset that he left, they weren't happy about it from what I've seen.
you have no idea, and neither do I, whether the Bills players were happy, sad, unfazed, by Marrone leaving. Common sense however, tells you that if marrone was highly respected in the league, he would have been gobbled up by another team. He wasn't. And it didn't seem that a whole bunch of teams were chomping at the bit to interview him. Let alone make him their head coach.

This is the reality that Rocco and GO can't deal with. And I do know for a fact that he pissed off a lot of people in Syracuse he didn't leave many friends behind and it's glaringly obvious the same thing happened in Buffalo

I love to hear these things from people like you, who know JACK of what actually goes in this program. You are taking regurgitated spin and trying to make it out like it's fact. Give it a break.

actually, it hits the nail on it's head.

Good explanation.

I have no clue why these Marrone threads have so many posts always.

He coached us before, now he doesn't. Who gives af what he does now..

And what does any of that have to do with the actual job he did rebuilding the team?

He pissed off a lot of people, you mean a generally incompetent and unsupportive athletic department? If so, so what? Took until he left and forced them to get off the dime to get the IPF done.

How much effort was involved in getting basic updates done with the existing facilities, much of which is just getting finished?

He didn't get along with the Bills front office, given their track record maybe he had a good reason.

Sounds like he was demanding and had attention to detail in two organizations that had a history of failure and the non-value adds resented getting called out.

why didn't he get another job if it was all on everyone else? It everyone else, all the time?

So he left Buffalo because he was too thin-skinned now? Give it a rest, you have no idea what you're talking about.
First, everything I said is 100% true so take your BS elsewhere.

In both Syracuse and Buffalo he started out happy happy and ended up like JB at press conferences. Not sure what you mean by "thin skinned now". Seems like he was thin skinned throughout.

Its not regurgitated spin, the truth is he pissed off a lot of people in both organizations. He pissed off a lot of recruits, alumni and high school coaches. Are you saying that this isn't true? I want you to write that isn't true. I've heard the same story from multiple good sources.
everyone isn't lying my friend. why do you think he is a position coach again?

Maybe he should stop taking jobs with organizations that have a history of failure. Because he seems to have gone backwards.

And while discussing "history" of failure for said organizations we should pretend the 90s never existed.

i always preferred...educating.
So to sum up, you seem to be saying that HCDM is a total schmuck who rode the coat tails of two hot defensive coordinators to an average, at best, record all while contributing little or nothing positive, in fact probably in total being a negative factor, during his two head coaching tenures. Is that accurate? Between all your cute one liners and predictions it's hard to tell exactly what you're saying. For the record, I believe DM is a flawed man who did an unbelievable job for two losing organizations to change the mind set at each and overcome the culture and habit of losing. He made enemies at each stop to be sure and at times made some awkward football decisions, but both teams were far better off when he left. Had he chosen to stay at SU I believe he could have become our Bo Schembechler or Woody Hayes.

If you leave a job after just two years and only one (sort of) winning season, can you still get sainthood?

9-7 is a winning season.

Best Bills season in years.

I never heard any of that.

Until some on this board started making noise recently.

The guy did a great job at SU.

I wish he had stayed.

He made syracuse a mediocre team and nothing more. He also pissed off a lot of people along the way. That's all hes done. Don't make him more than what he is

Utter nonsense.

yeah, that 9th win was very impressive. maybe you didn't see it. The Pats played subs.
