Kamara is not going to happen... And we usually take two backs, so I would be very happy with Edwards (bruiser) and Smith(speed). I eventually could see Edwards as a OLB/SS type if they go in that direction. Smith as a KR.

With Ogundeko, Smith, Edwards and Williams that is a very solid NYC class this year. Maybe best since Marrone has taken over. I feel like we want Collins over Liviano and that he will go to Rutgers so I am not counting him.

IF we could land all four city kids that would be a huge step for the program. protect the home. Have not been able to do it yet. Hopefully this year.
I don't know if Kamara is not going to happen. It seems unlikely with Bama going so hard, but we are in his top five and were the first to really be on him. Remember Bama could end up taking a couple backs before he is ready to commit; anything could happen there. Smith isn't a bad alternative but he will need a ton of S&C before he will be ready to play, and then the question is will he maintain the speed after putting on 20-25 pounds?

Edwards and Kamara are ahead of him on the recruiting board.
This is surprising to me. Based strictly off the tape I've seen, Smith would be much better for our offense because of his big play ability. Edwards looks very average. Again this is just off two 10 minute tapes so what do I know but it's still surprising.

Very good point on Smith. I think at worst he is a 180 pound KR/PR specialists. Don't get me wrong, i'd love Kamara but when SEC schools come knocking for Southern Kids it is usually game over.

Laray Smith was with them as well.
I believe they are all Brooklyn Boys. And i believe that Foy and Reddish are as well. Hopefully add W. Williams to the mix.

while Kamara is probably a long shot i wouldn't say it's not going to happen. he's tight with Wheatley and has stated he's going to visit Cuse. He also put Syracuse up in his top 5 even after he'd gotten most of his offers. If he unofficials here that's great, if we stay in it long enough to get an official visit then anything can happen.

On Laray Smith - he and Kamara are relatively the same size. If you've watched the tapes they look very similar in running ability though - yeah I now Kamara is doing it in Georiga...but I do believe if Laray Smith played in Georgia he'd also be a high major recruit. Kid is explosive, outstanding speed, great vision, cuts on a dime, makes people miss and has a LOT of wiggle.

I think Marrone likes the idea of Edwards being of similar build and style as Carter, plus he can easily be switched to defense if things don't work out. I think he sees Edwards as a better complement to Morris than Smith; I think we land them both though.

As far as size goes I think Smith is not nearly as heavy as it says on paper; he's listed at 175, but he looks closer to 160-165 and that's on a 6-1 frame. I think that is something that is holding Smith from blowing up much more than he is. Kamara is a little bit shorter and around 190, so he is much more prototypical at this stage. Smith is very fast and quick, but will that translate once he gets in a college weight and puts 30 pounds on? Doubtful, whereas Kamara is not as fast but looks to be very very quick with his decisions and cuts as well. I like them all, but we're only getting two at most unless Edwards goes to defense. I do think we have a reasonable shot at Kamara though; one of my friends on campus is from Norcross (sp?) and knows Kamara and hangs around with some of the same kids. I guess he is seriously considering SU, especially with many kids from Georgia attending the school and the recent influx of Ga. players; it doesn't hurt that Wheatley is his favorite recruiter either.

Rivals also lists Kamara at 190 which means he's lighter than that and if you watch his you tube clips he doesn't look much bigger than Smith.

Anyhow it's hard to debate size when none of us knows but in looking at some photos of Smith - like this track photo - he looks heavier than 160 and also doesn't look like he'll have a problem getting adding muscle and getting stronger.

Smith looks about 175 to me. I would love all three, but the NY two would be excellent.

#BlowingUp RT @NYPost_Brazille LSU, Florida and Alabama are all at Jefferson today to meet with DE Ebenezer Ogundeko. Can you say big-time?

Why is this kid blowing up at this point? No camps are in progress, the season is long over? Don't understand the timing... On another note, getting this kid might be like it was for Ishaq, nearly impossible!

Just an FYI Dominique Easley is trying to sell him on Florida.

no surprise there - hopefully he'll want to play close to home and have a bunch of fellow city kids on his team instead of being wowed by the glitz of the SEC

Wasn't Easley unhappy at one point and considering transferring? Might be thinking of someone else.

You are correct

I’m having a hard time understanding the explosion of Ebenezer’s recruitment because of the fact that he hasn’t been to any camps or combines (that I'm aware). Part of me thinks it’s one of those deals that as soon as Urban Meyer and Ohio State took a look that everybody else jumped on board. Are these offers really coming from a highlight tape of NYC competition?

Anyhow, when he ends up in Syracuse I don’t want to hear all the crap we heard about with Wayne Morgan and the only reason we got him was b/c the big boys pulled offers, never offered or were never really interested in him. The biggest fallacy was b/c he had poor summer combine showings.

Spot on his bad day just happened to be at his biggest camp and he had a rough time with the one on one drills. I for one think he is going to be a special Safety. For anyone that's played in the secondary I think we can all agree it's easy to have a bad day in the one on one drills sucks for him it was in front of so many coaches even though it ended up being great for us

I think its exactly that. It really took off when Ohio St offered. His highlights are good but not great. One thing I do know is that his work ethic is incredible. He is a workout junkie. He was 220 during the season. He is already up to 240 lbs, and its muscle.

He is visiting for junior day/spring game. Hopefully we make an impact on him.

Why are we so hyped for Ebenezer one way or the other? He is a good prospect, but no highlight that is make or break as far as our recruiting for this year. UnRated raw talent.

Landing any recruit with an offer list like that is a good thing for perception of the program.

Not saying we wouldn't like to bag him, but the only offers besides maybe a Boise State are for schools very much like SU, no real big names in the compettion. Now pulling a kid from Michigan, or OSU, ND now, that is fairly highly touted by recruiting agencies would be something else.

The other factor with this kid is he committed early and renigged in less than a month, any committment from a player that isn't sure what he wants would best come near signing day.
