Yeah but once that demotion was announced him leaving was inevitable. He was never going to coach here under that title.

Our D was very, very bad under his leadership. Beyond time to move on.

I think he was speaking from ERob's perspective regarding staying here in a reduced role under the new DC versus going to LSU for a similar role. Clearly, he's immediately handed a more taleted dline and recruiting to LSU will be easier. An argument could be made that he had a chance to learn more about running a defense under Kehres since he is used to doing more with less.

This is not how I truly feel, and I fear this is too mean to actually put out there, but my gut reaction when I heard LSU wanted to make a "splash" hire and that it would be Robinson, was like,

Weird seeing the clamoring to keep him. Could have gone to the ACC championship & maybe the playoff last year if we had a better DC.

The clamoring isn’t to keep him as DC though, but probably best for him to move on to the SEC.

The players come for Fran. I figure Robinson is well liked but the players are staying with Fran.
Robinson leaving works out for both. He gets exposure at LSU and it frees up money for SU for coaches.

I wouldn't want to keep him as DL coach either. A disgruntled employee who was demoted because he wasn't good at his job isn't likely to be a good team player.

I've never heard of anyone ever in any job getting demoted and not being disgruntled.

So it’s an assumption then. That’s fine. But I don’t really believe Robinson thought the Defense was getting the job done and therefore how could he reasonably be disgruntled for being ousted.

Nobody ever thinks it's their fault when they get fired/demoted.
