For those of you obsessed with attendance

I don’t think the bus thing is outrageous…

They could do it with a ticket includes the bus fare kinda thing that was suggested so that way the bus is “free”

Hoping it takes off in from Binghamton
I still stand by my Rochester notion. It's close enough, within two hours, has a sizeable population, and has no pro or college sports at the highest level. There may be people interested in checking out big time college football and basketball. It just seems like a potentially untapped resource for SU. If you're going to buy a billboard in Yankee Stadium; why not maybe advertise/promote 85 miles away.

Well, if there was SU interest they would do the same thing. If there is no interest why would SU foot the bill?

If enough people were interested in a bus trip to the Dome the Bus company itself might do it just like they do for yankees and bills games but the teams themselves don't set that up. That was my point, SU isn't going to be footing the bill in any scenario.

I am sure Tom and Jerry’s will move forward with buses if this pilot goes well. Looks like he bought 30 season ticket packages and started reselling a few days ago. Only 14 left for Louisville. Seats are in 309-310. Guessing they are the $99 ones.

Of course he already had a Notre Dame trip planned with buses that sold out at $175 and he now added a lower price option with bus in these sections at $145. Might have bought the 30 seasons just to get the extra ND tickets.

Tom Darpino was actually Andrew Goodrich’s landlord at one time so they have a good relationship. Pre pandemic Broome County was the largest growth area for SU Athletics ticket sales outside of CNY. Hope we can get it growing again.!

I remember the days when the Orange Pack used to have bus trips to some away games. PSU, Pitt, BC.
definitely had them in the 90s. I even used to drive to Syracuse to get on one every once in a while.

the bus could be fun.

My parents did 2 a year. I went with them twice. Once to psu and once to bc. Mary Dunham did a lot of the work. Wonderful lady.
The student bus to Penn St in ‘88 was awesome.

Have SU give a discount on tickets if the out of town fans are staying at the Casinos. Then work with the casinos to provide the buses, so SU doesn’t have to.

Probably right. The precedent I worked off of involves Indian gaming casinos in Santa Barbara CA. They provide free transportation from Los Angeles area to their businesses. About 95 miles one way. I realize gambling is very different; but, for SU, that needs more of a fan base, maybe a fee could be worked into the purchase price to help cover some of the cost.

It’s not “gambling” that makes it very different. It’s also “Indian casino” that makes it very different. Much easier to sue the university than an Indian Casino that isn’t technically a U.S. govt entity.

What an *ss kicking that day. It was epically HOT! in the Meadowlands that day too.

That was the start of my senior year. If I could bottle up the feeling of entering Syracuse University as a senior with an exciting football team during a very peaceful time, i'd be a happy man
1. The box score lists the temp at 75°. Maybe at 8:00am. It was 95 mother efffin degrees in that stadium.

2. We held Ron Dayne to 46 yards!

3. Kevin Johnson opening KR TD is one of my favorite outside the dome moments to witness in person

4. Konrad had 76 yards on 8 carries!

FWIW, I love attendance threads. Seeing the excitement, tailgating, and plethora of fans excited to see a winner...there is nothing better. The excitement and energy around campus and inside JMA will be insane if we can start off hot. On the other hand, if we start off on a lousy note, the excitement definitely dwindles.

I am hoping for at least 35K for Louisville...wishing for more however. Keep these threads going as it shows the roller coaster ride for fan support throughout the season!

When is the last time we had a big opening game crowd? Has to be 2008 when Marrone took over and there were still enough people who remembered when we were good and was hoping that was the beginning of our resurgence. I can probably be proved long, but it felt like we still had decent crowds under Marrone and then things fell off the map.

Outside of the big Clemson game the only time I remember a decent crowd was during the end of the 2018 season.

In other words just Fn win and they will come! Too bad to getting a night game opener against a good Louisville team. It would have been a blast if it were 1992
