Future Campus Framework Discussion

I think it would be foolish for them not to do a west annex

And I think Syracuse feels the same way.

The problem is funding. Find a corporation or a donor that will fund it and they will do it in a heart beat

Are you an 81 project denier? You don't like progress? Taking down 81 will do so many positive things for the city and the businesses around it that it's beyond a discussion. Not sure where you are going with this.
I'm keeping an open mind...however, I await the unintended consequences.

As for the present...the University is planning a "Miron Victory Court Grand Opening" event for Friday 11/8 at 5:30.
i would find that hard to believe there will be a completed product based on what I saw 2 weeks ago.

How we looking for MVC?

Can anyone grab and share some recent photos?

All we need is someone to go in Barnes center at arch. Take a right before the gym front desk and look out the door into MVc And take picture. 2 weeks ago it was a full on construction site Inside

Quick update for those interested - I had a tour of the Miron Court progress on Monday. They are about "90% complete" on construction. The space is huge and very impressive. There is a large video board that will stream live game action; a new gate near existing gate G in addition to entrance from gate P into the "vestibule" area; from the interior there will be 3 large access points from the concourse. For reference, one of the access points will be near section 324.

Thanks so much for the update!

Any photos?

A little bit of OT and get it done in 10 days? ha

Sorry, no photos
A couple questions...

Is the inside wide open? Is it one big giant room with a huge TV? Does it look like a big open food court area? Are there any booths set up to sell food there?

Any signs of any other purposes for it? I assume there are some rooms either in place or going to be installed for training and holding meetings.

Did you only see the ground level? Looks like there is a second level.

Did they per chance take the rooms on the outside wall of the lower concourse and remove them, to open up the concourse and make it dramatically wider?

It sounds like they did not and just opened three gateways to get from the MCV to the lower concourse. I know they are including bathrooms on both sides of the MVC and was hoping they ripped out the old bathrooms, ripped out the old outside walls (there were rooms on the other side; these were not exterior walls). Also hoping if they did this, they saved the giant Ridlon football mural and put it inside the MVC.

Seems like too much to dream for.

Lots of questions, I'll try to answer a few...

There are essentially 2 areas. A vestibule area at Gate P that will have bathrooms that fans can access pregame without entering the Dome. The main area is separated from the vestibule by a floor to ceiling glass wall. The main area is essentially a large atrium area that extends across the entire facade of the east end of the Dome and from the upper concourse to the ceiling of the Dome. This is a wide open space without multiple "levels" - at least at this time. My understand is that the area will be multipurpose at some point - e.g., they plan to move events typically held at the Goldstein center to this area. There will be VIP events held here. I'm not sure about adding conference rooms, etc. But that might be in the plans.

The video board is mounted on the far wall directly across from the concourse access points. The concourse has not been expanded (I don't think anyway), but the access points are large and create a much more open feeling. The plan is to have open access in and out of this area during events. There will be seating, open space, food options, restrooms. The belief is that this will cut down on some of the congestion on the concourses.

Sounds like they're doing this in stages, which allows for the "opening" next month, followed by more work in the basketball offseason? Is that a fair assessment?

Cool. I misspoke referencing the lower concourse. Thanks for correcting that.

Any project that extends the footprint of the dome is going to help.

Excited to see what this brings.

Hopefully it will eventually have a lot of cocktail tables so people can buy food and have a place to put it while they eat. This made the SyraCRUZ@ tailgate 144% better.

There will definitely be cocktail tables and places to eat.

I'm not sure what the plans are going forward. I do know that they want to have the space fully functional for the last 2 football games.

Thanks for update. They are flying. Got a lot of work done in the last 3 weeks. I think it’s going to be great gathering/meet up point before/half/after games.

Any updates on MVC for us out of staters?

Are they expected to have it open by then (even partially)

Just walked past it ftom inside the dome. Game changer. It’s going to make me want seasons on that end of the dome.

Yup it’s one big space.

Hard to tell.

It’s looks to be two stories high.

No. But I think there are 3 access points. It’s going to free up the concourse on that side significantly.
