Incoming Portal Participants..

I'm starting to think you are right. That info posted by Capt affirms what you are saying. I think. It was a bit confusing.

I don't believe he'd be able to do it at an Ivy, but if he transferred, he should be able to play 2 more.
This year was a freebie and would of been Jimmy’s senior year, he should only have one left. Don’t see how he gets more than that.

Because of favoritism it will hurt rotations, roster and recruiting even more than they have.
Buddy grew into becoming a very good player, but it took him most of his freshman year to do so, when he got far more run than his stats warranted.
How many other players would still have the green light after starting the season 1-22 from three?
How many would still be on the court? I was a Buddy believer, but it cost us players who left.
I guess what everyone here accepts is that this is the new reality.
I don't care for it, myself.
You still care about Carey, Goodine, and Washington leaving?

We lost 3 guards just last year. Not entirely because of Buddy, but because of Buddy and Joe playing 38 minutes a game when they didn't earn it, and when at least 1 other guard in the rotation would have helped the team, and none of them played even 10 minutes a game. Just 10 minutes a game for a third guard would have still left Buddy and Joe with 35 minutes a game. So, there's that.
10 minutes wasn’t going to be enough to keep those guys here.

At the time, I was a little bummed about Goodine.

I’ve gotten over it, since he clearly wasn’t gonna get any minutes again here, and he didn’t there.

I mean this as nicely as possible, I totally forgot about Howard Washington
Sharing for two reasons:

The end of the article might shed some light on Jimmy’s eligibility:
“Washington will still have two more years’ of eligibility remaining after this season. He would have been eligible for the 2021-22 season anyway and could play the following year as well since the NCAA has awarded all winter sports athletes an extra year in light of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Howard Washington was a redshirt Sophomore this season.
He got a medical redshirt in 2018-2019.
That is why he still has 2 years left despite not playing this season.
He didn’t get an extra because he didn’t play this year.

Jimmy likely only has 1 season.

What's that got to do with his freshman year?

I think Jimmy has two seasons left, as has been said.

Jimmy has one year left, I have no idea where some people keep getting this idea he has 2.

But, since he didn't use his 4th year of eligibility this year, he keeps that. And since there was a pandemic, and the NCAA granted all athletes an extra year of eligibility, he gets an additional year. 6 years to play 5. Crazy.

See above. All athletes were granted a free year of eligibility.

Correct but that was this season, the IVY canceling doesn't bump out another year. He could have played this year for Cornell his senior year and then next year for SU. JB mentioned in one of his last PCs Jimmy had 1 year left.

Yeah - just because we offered him before, doesn’t mean he has any reciprocal interest.

Or more importantly - that his guardians / handlers don’t have any interest.

I can’t even believe we are still debating this. Literally all you have to do is search on Google NCAA eligibility rules. It’s six to play five now

Yeah, I'm just not convinced. And I can't find anything more recent on the Google to confirm one way or the other.

Or maybe he was Hoya long enough to develop a proper hatred of us, as we would expect any of our players to do for them.

He has 1 year left at Cornell...

Think of Jimmy just as Marek, Marek would have one season left whether or not he played this year
That isn't true. Red Shirts did not have that held against them. Had Marek come back, he would have played 5 years of college ball. So far, Jimmy has played 3.
