Jakhari Williams

One other point to add that helps Jakhari in the near future……Is it just me or does it seem like Luke Carney is a wee bit underrated as a QB prospect? His tape looks phenomenal.

If he enrolls early and is at the level of say an Eric Dungey was when he arrived as a freshman, while that’s not good enough for today’s standard of a starting QB, it might be sufficient for this staff to feel good about Carney as a viable #2 on depth chart which would solidify Jakhari as #1.

I still think they will and should add a transfer but I think it is unfair to assume that a transfer will walk in and start.

Next years schedule is brutal ad on one side I don't want Williams to be a Wilson situation when the poor kid had no chance and was thrown in too early. I agree to continue to fortify the OL wall and give him or whoever step up one but that OL will also determine if a portal QB would want to come as well.
Austin Wilson? I thought he had a nice arm.

I'm not forgetting as much as I can't say I've ever known for sure how good he is.

Is there a chance of retention risk/inability to get skill talent infusions out of the portal if Williams is positioned as the guy next season?

I think there's risk to rolling with Williams. If he's the choice I take that as a good sign. That said, it would really help if something happens like he does start the bowl and has a great game.

Starting the season against Tennessee on a neutral field is a baptism by fire.
It will really be up to Nixon to scheme up a good plan to keep Jakhari upright. We will lose more seniors on the oline than anywhere else. The kids on the 2s must become men over the summer.

One good think is that he is an athlete and can move and can stretch the field with his big arm.

Not to make an unfair comparison but he may have a similar skill set to our best qbs.

There's a difference between being a competitor and being dumb. Jeopardizing a multi million dollar NFL career for a bowl game is dumb
He's projected to be a UDFA right now. Is there a chance that he sneaks in somewhere in rounds 4 through 7? Sure. But let's not pretend like he's a sure fire 1st round pick that would be risking a giant signing bonus. Do I think he is going to play in our bowl? No. Would I be shocked if he does? No.

Kyle’s biggest draft analysis is gonna be when he gets to the combine and the coaches pick his brain and realize how high is IQ for the game is

Yeah, I don't know what McCord's potential is as a quality NFL starting QB, maybe he can be that, maybe he can't, but between his ability to process and throw the ball plus the dedication to film study it seems he profiles perfectly as a competent backup QB that could have a really nice run getting paid by the NFL to be ready but not have to take many hits.

That's a long sentence, kinda proud of myself.
