Marrone

Stupid? What do you work for the Bills front office or something? Why is name calling necessary? Yes, Buffalo is one of the top 32 NFL jobs, but closer to 32 than 1, no? As I said its all a matter of perspective because all NFL teams need to outperform their 31 peers, and Buffalo has several built in disadvantages which I listed. The better candidates will gravitate to better franchises, in particular the ones that have a qb. Keep dreaming that Buffalo is a desirable top tier, heck even top half of the league franchise. You are delusional.

I was calling your post stupid. Which it was, and continues to be.

NFL head coaching jobs are premier. You can win at any of them. And you can lose at any of them.

Look at the history of NFL teams. You will see peaks and valleys. The Super Bowl champion two years ago had a decade-long playoff drought. The Patriots made the playoffs just once over a period of nine years.

You have moved away from talking about Marrone and now are killing Buffalo as a franchise. It's clear you have an agenda, which makes it pointless to try and reasonably have a conversation.

You say killing Buffalo as a franchise, I say pointing out their areas of improvement. If you can't see that some NFL jobs are better than others with your parochial view of the world, then that is your limitation not mine. Never said you can't win in Buffalo, I pointed out the obvious current drawbacks, which I guess are not too obvious to you. Btw, that is one heck of a valley you guys are working on over there. Gotta be getting close to some kind of a record.

Yeah but at least I was accurate. Page # 20 of Bills hysteria over being jilted by a coach they wanted to get rid of is all the evidence of that I need. Throw in the anonymous leaks by the front office and it's even more absurd. Bills Fan is an emotional wreck-

I am a Bills fan and I am good either way ... he can stay or go ... I'm glad you consider your generalizations "accurate" ... I knew a Giants fan that once said and I quote "Jeremy McNeal reminds me of Shaq". If I based my opinions of Giants fans based on his input and yours I would consider all Giants fans a bunch of dullards ... maybe I would be accurate with my assessment as well.

TE's ends are pretty average and the running backs were nearly as good as hoped going in. Spiller was out most of the year, Jackson is in his 80th year, and Dixon and Brown are okay.

Orton as a player was fine, the problem was the lack of camp time.

As for the OL, yeah, all the evidence points to him being clueless there.

OL play diminished significantly not because Marrone can't coach the position, but because he refused to play the best players. Urbik was the best player at a position from the get-go but Marrone benched him for something that was not performance related. Then turned back to him when it was too late.

As for your other points, TE's don't matter and RB's are a dime a dozen. The offense would have been fine if Hackett had a clue. And that ultimately falls on Marrone.

I'm not a Marrone hater at all - I think he's a good coach. But I don't think he's beyond criticism or that he's a miracle worker.

As I said, you clearly have an agenda and can't have a reasonable conversation. I'll allow you to think whatever it is you think. Even if it isn't accurate.

That's pretty funny. I'm not basing my assessment of Bills fan on just one, just look around. We're up to page 21 on this thread, and you guys show no signs of letting up. And this is an SU forum!

At least he is attempting to avoid insulting an entire fan base ... something you failed to do earlier.

As a Giants fan they know pretty much everything. I mean they haven't missed the playoffs 3 straight years or have a fan base screaming for regime change. Going to be interesting to see how next year goes when Beckham inevitably hurts his hamstring again. I'm sure Coughlin will be fully supported no matter what.

Now you're confusing an agenda with an opinion that you don't like. Sorry if it stings, and I hate to be the one to break it to you but Buffalo is not the center of the NFL world. I know that hurts but it's the truth- but thank you for allowing me to have my own opinion, very big of you.

Giants fans aren't screaming for regime change. Continuity is the biggest winner in sports, and the lack of it the biggest loser.

Sorry I missed the memo where millhouse and another poster on a syracuse fan website speak for the entire fan base. Can I assume the Giants fans I heard all year calling into Francesca bashing coughlin Reese and the owner speak for you?

Most Bills fans I know we're crushed Marrone chose to opt out and would have loved him to stay. He's gone now and Polian isn't coming either. So we're trying to look forward and hope to hit on a decent coach. Not sure how that encompasses regime change. We just changed owners and now coaches both beyond the fan bases control. Most fans of other teams don't know or understand the bills so please don't tell me what I want or how I feel.

Wow that's a lot of what if's you've got going on. Let's stick to what is actually going on instead of your hypotheticals, although if it makes you feel better to deflect from what's going on with the Bills knock yourself out but it's not a particularly effective or persuasive argument. Personally, I like the approach the Giants take as an organization to ride out the storms. It's worked so far, and not to be condescending much better than whatever is going on at 1 Bills Dr. Hopefully our ownership takes the high road and doesn't go scorched Earth on Coughlin's way out the door if and when that day comes. Doesn't seem like their style though-

In all seriousness, were you one of the fans who was crushed when he opted out?

Should the bills have kept continuity with jauron or gailey?

Continuity is an effect of having someone great that you want to keep. It doesn't cause anyone to be great

Yes because 100 represents the majority of Bills fans ... so far I have determined you would be an awful stats guy ... a terrible GM ... and not the type of guy I would hire to do PR either ... the fact is this ...

In being objective Marrone got the Bills to 9 wins ... he started a turn around much as he did at SU ... he narrowly missed the playoffs because the one position he should have the best grip on .. the OL ... was awful.

He was subject to bad decisions by the front office and I would agree with him wholeheartedly on this ... however he failed to make the playoffs with a QB that has been there before and has proven competent during his stint in the NFL at managing a game with a solid defense like he did in Chicago.

Marrone failed to grab an easy win over the Raiders and lost the season and should have beaten Miami twice because they aren't really all that stellar. The division was ripe for them to seize a wild card spot and he didn't do it.

You also miss the point that coaching an NFL team is an extreme accomplishment and there are only 32 of them so there are tons of candidates and probably some that would do a better job. Do I know who they are? No ... but no one can unequivocally say that there aren't better options who can take that franchise to the next level.

As for the "you guys" comment I have said very little on this subject and in the past been supportive of Marrone but unlike you I can push aside my emotions and be subjective in this situation. One other piece of advice:

"If you meet an A*&hole in the morning you met an A&^hole, if you meet A&*holes all day then you are more than likely the A&*hole." - Raylan Givens

Do you get the point?

Most I know shrugged. Nobody likes SU so they're not thinking about any of that. Take him or leave him was the general consensus

As a Bills fan, I'm not sure you really want to go there (bashing the Giants and their fans and how many years they have missed the playoffs). ;)

Perhaps crushed was the wrong word but most of them were upset he chose to opt out. I think u made some valid points but I would still prefer Marrone had stayed. At this point I hope Schwartz stays and we continue to do what seems to be so far at least a very thorough search.

No beef with the Giants just find it odd that one poster continually took shots at the Bills and the fan base and the organization ad a whole. Especially when the Giants have there own issues. Trust me though I'd love to trade super bowls if we could.

Polian is pretty old, my point is Giants fans aren't screaming for anything other than next season (and probably the Lions right now).

Agree on Polian, I think it's a blessing on disguise. Love what he did for Buffalo back in the day but he's 71 and the Bills need someone younger.

Wow that's a lot of typing to call me an A$$hole at the very end. You are you calling me an A$$hole right? No need to be subtle I can take it but it does kind of reinforce the whole Bills fan takes everything personally theme I was going with. Maybe not every last one, but you get the drift. Yeah, I've made generalizations but all in good fun, and I'd suggest there's a kernel of truth in there with which to base my good natured ribbing on- get the point? As for Marrone, my whole thesis has been 1) appreciate the resurrection St. Doug did at SU, and 2) He's been pretty decent at Buffalo, which is more than that franchise has had lately. Apparently that is controversial-
