I think that's very much open to debate. We will never know if the replacements were recruited because the core of his last class got gutted when he left. Our offense also took on a whole new scheme, which obviously didn't fit with some of the kids on the roster. I think it's more then likely the guy it was handed off to botched it.

Tell me which rbs and wrs were gutted? Even QB since none that he left have done much and the 1 he wanted we'll never know.

And you know how they'd have done here? How? There was even talk that maybe Rice would end up at DB.

I will agree we don't know if he is a great coach yet.

That's all I've said and I agree.

Bunch of NFL quality OL in there, same with defensive players. Should include Arthur Jones and Andrew Lewis. As dasher points out Rice and Green.

Gus Edwards? Zach Allen is a red shirt Freshman. I believe he is 3rd string behind a kid that came in 4th for the Heisman trophy, and a 5th year grad transfer from Texas A&M. His career isn't quite over.

When Marrone left we lost Malik Brown, Devan Carter, Gus Edwards, Laray Allen, and Zach Allen. That's a solid core who still have a long way to go in their college careers.

I see 4-5 players in there out of about 75. Where are all these nfl players?

Why should it include Jones and Perkins? They weren't in the 3 classes I'm talking about. 2002, 2003 and 2004. Three classes in a row that cratered. That will kill a program no matter the coach.

As to Rice and Brown, we'll never know no matter how many times people try to project them in an SU uniform. If we want to go down that road then we can look at the players the coaches specifically chose not to recruit and they went on to be excellent college players. You just don't know. What if Rice was a DB?

Yea, let's see what they do. Edwards = AAM. Carter wasn't a QB, WR or RB. Couple of those guys we didn't lose because of Marrone. When did they all say that?

It's a miracle he got the Bills a winning record this season. Absolute miracle. He can name his price, he's earned it.

You think 9-7 with the talent that team had was a miracle???

Kyle Orton, injuries to Spiller and Fred, no Kiko, injured Sammy all season basically. 9-7 is a blessing. Losing a home game on top of that. Sounds like Bills management didn't want to sign him to an extension. Idiots.

Maybe one less punt on 4th and 1 in opponent's territory and he could have made the playoffs and earned that extension. Since when does a 15-17 record get you an extension??

Yeah, the offense was abysmal. Most notably the offensive line, of which Marrone was a supposed "guru." But whatever, 9-7 was a "miracle."

Yea. Every year their fans say they have the talent to be a playoff team. Now that's it's Marrone, some will say it's a miracle they were 9-7 with no talent.

Has to be a contender for the Bears or Raiders job. As a Pats I am glad he is out of the division he was a QB away from competing year in and out with the Pats.

Marone will be the next San Fran Head Coach...

Except he's shown progress despite setbacks. Once they have a QB, they'll be a double digit win team every year. Beggars of the NFL can't be choosers, but he's done pretty well there, all things considered. Giants fans are mad because they've won 2 super bowls in the last handful of years. Jets fans are mad because Rex got them to an AFC Champ game. Bills fans are mad because their record gets better, roster gets depleted due to injuries and the Organization refuses to give the coach an extension. Complete delusion.

He coached the team to a 9-7 record this season despite:

1. The best we could find was a QB who was not on a roster, not in the Bills training camp, and learned the offense on the job to post a 7-5 record as a starter. The Bills would not have had Orton had Marrone not vehemently made his point to the GM that changes were needed in the QB depth chart.

2. The death of the only owner the Bills have ever had, and the transition to a new owner.

3. The loss of a home game, and moving that game to Detroit, due to a snow fall of historic levels.

4. The loss of both top RBs in the same game.

5. The top 3 WRs having very little NFL experience. The best of them, Watkins, playing through several injuries going back to training camp.

6. The RT being a seventh round rookie pick.

7. The OG postions were occupied by players that were not projected to be the starters.

8. The loss of our best rookie from the previous season (Kiko), before this season's games even began.

9. The loss of last year's Def Coordinator to the browns. Marrone may have upgraded the position with Schwartz replacing Pettine.

Makes you wonder what he would have done with this SU team. :noidea: Oh Lord

Wherever he goes, I hope he crashes and burns. Dude has bailed on both of my teams. Sub .500 career record and dude thinks he is God's gift to football.
