Marrone

Yea. Every year their fans say they have the talent to be a playoff team. Now that's it's Marrone, some will say it's a miracle they were 9-7 with no talent.

Not sure about miracles, but a few of us here have been saying for a while that the lack of understanding and appreciation for just how good Marrone is as HC, including bringing back SU from the abyss, is a shame.

He is an exceptional HC and, as OPA pointed out, an exceptional administrator.

He will have his choice of NFL jobs. My bet is on the JETS

Boy has the definition of "exceptional" really taken a beating over the years...

Wherever he goes, I hope he crashes and burns. Dude has bailed on both of my teams. Sub .500 career record and dude thinks he is God's gift to football.

Dude asked Bills for an extension for himself and all his assistants. Dude was told no (per NFL.com). Dude opted out. Dude will have multiple offers. Bills fans got what they wished for.

Have to do better than 25-25 and 15-17 to be put into exceptional or great status. But if you keep moving enough, you never have to get a team to championships to convince some fans to think you're great. No doubt he'll go to another team that is below average. That way he only needs to get them to average to be granted sainthood.

I'm really starting to dislike St. Doug. He keeps my teams!
bills will be fine. Ralph is gone and Brandon will be neutered

Yeah, I do get your point on the exceptional term. I do think the job he did at SU was exceptional, despite the record. I absolutely agree that the "greatness" label only comes with championships and longevity. That's what I didn't use it.

So, are any of the people who post here and hate the Bills for hiring Marrone Jets fans?

I'm a Bills fan, FWIW, and I didn't think that Marrone was a particularly good coach either at SU or for the Bills.

J E T S JETS. JETS. JETS.

Take it to the bank.

You are probably right. I forgot the Jets canned Ryan. I actually would like to see Ryan end up att Buffalo. I just heard that Frank Reich is a hot commodity and there may be mutual interest.

If Marrone really does go to the Jets, he will get pounded by the NYC media.

You are what your record says you are. All of the hype is based upon what people "think" of Marrone. People who are trying to prove he sucks as a coach are wrong. People who are trying to prove he is a great coach are wrong. He may eventually become one of those...sucky or great, but right now with the body of work, he is an average coach. 25-25 in college and 15-17 in the NFL has average written all over it. Those are the facts. No excuses, no if, and or buts. You are what your record says you are. Now if he takes the Bills to the next level and goes to the playoffs year after year, win some, get to Super Bowls and maybe win one, then the word great can start to be associated with his name.

I would like to see Marrone complete a job before passing judgement on how good a coach he is. SU wanted to be a Top 25 program again. The Bills wanted to be a playoff team again. He left both jobs before achieving those goals. We never found out if he could have done it.

What can all these NFL and major college decision makers be thinking?

Wow. That stuff matters?

So? Doesn't make him a great coach because he took 2 programs and in 2 years made them average. They both obviously had some talent and that's why in year 2 he had them at average. That's where SU was when he left and where the Bills are now. Average. Now let's see if he can take the next step to very good or great.

To say that SU had talent when Marrone got her IMO is wrong. He just did a lot with the Shlit sandwich he inherited.

The guy has a ton of Silician in him, less the cement shoes/neckties/shotgun blasts.

Four million reasons to force the issue. His agent really worked Brandon over.

It's funny how the bills and sabres ended up with these business clowns sticking their fingers in everything when ownership wasn't up to it. Brandon for bills and Larry Quinn for the sabres

Yeah, he only posted the best record the Bills have had since 2004. For a team that has only had two years over 500 since 2000 (one being this season), you Bills fans have irrationally high expectations and want those lofty expectations to be met very quickly.

What is a Silician...do they come from a different planet? Are they like Tarknishians that Riley Martin talks about all the time on the Stern Show?

Enough talent to get to a bowl in year 2. But then again, that year was almost all Shafer.
