Melo on the move...

I think Melo in ATL is his final destination. Knowing Daryl Morey a bit; I can’t see him truly making a move for him. Melo’s end of career is shaping up sort of like the way it did for Nique. Melo is basically a spot up shooter now. Limited lift, athleticism drop-off, handle is OK but not great, below average defender, etc. He can help ATL if he accepts his role. In no way do I think he’s going to HOU, lol.
Uhhhh...there’s a less than zero chance he plays for ATL

Melo has a no trade clause. This trade doesn’t happen unless they agreed to waive him.
He doesn’t want to play in Atlanta.

Deal was contingent on ATL waiving Melo. Houston , Miami or LA will be his final landing spot.

Man what I would've done to have a few of you guys around to hear the H0T Takes in Denver at the time. They thought Gallo was a star 100%. I would tell them he hit his ceiling, and it was like being surrounded by wolves on Nuggets island.

Used to argue at happy hours, hearing about that trade and how it was all Melos fault, but they'd be better off, for at least a year. Lol. Good times.

They made the playoffs every single year he was here. Before him, they advertised the teams that the nuggs were playing against, on billboards all over here, to get fans to games. That's sad. Nothing but record sellouts every season he was here. And while they don't look as bad now, I love asking how many playoffs they've made since. Nothing but H0T Takes round these parts.

I visited Denver in 2001 and I remember talking to some sports memorabilia guy. Everything was Broncos, Avalanche, and Rockies. I asked him about the Nuggets, and he dismissed them in half a second saying that nobody cares about them.

And he spoke the truth

different skill sets. but melo is a Nobel Laureate intellectually compared to that dufus.
Now they just need to have JR Smith for bookend doofuses.

Knicks fans thought Gallo was a STAR. Lol.

Chandler is decent, but a dime a dozen. Mistake to make the deal or not...the Knicks had Carmelo, Amare, and Tyson Chandler. Come playoff time, only one guy showed up every year. The others were getting dominated by mediocre players or hurting themselves doing trick dunks in warmups or punching fire extinguisher glass. And the one who showed up gets the blame from some people(even SU fans). Hilarious.
Gallo could have been a major star. He was done with that the moment Tractor Traylor crashed into him and messed his back up in summer league. When his back wasn't killing him, you could see it. Until he re-injured it his rookie year, he was shooting close to 50% overall and from 3. But yeah, he has also been injured a lot.

I think the real thing that killed Amare was his knees. D'Antoni played him a ton of minutes that first year. Impossible to say that was the sole cause, he had bad knees already, but it didnt help

He played just under 37 min/gm. Is that a ton? So three minutes less would have made the difference? IMO, it didn't matter, his health was doomed, which is why NY could not get insurance on him.

is Melo any better than Beasley at this point?

Who knows? Beasley’s career should’ve rivaled Carmelo’s. The fact that the first time it might be a legit comparison is 15 years into Carmelo’s career shows what a wild card underachiever Beasley has been. He’s always had talent.

Glad he had a nice season(for him) last year and I like the Lakers taking him with basically zero risk. But man, his career could’ve been so much more. I thought he’d be a career 20 ppg guy and at least an all star a few times.

Melo was better for us and has easily had a better NBA career, but it's easy to forget just how good Beasley was his year at Kansas State. Thought he was an easy NBA superstar and he might have been if weed wasn't more important to him.

Yeah. 26 and 12 per game in college! I watched him at Manley Field House in high school. There was some one day thing with 3-4 games featuring all kinds of top teams there. Scoop and Rick Jackson’s team was there and played against Donte Greene’s team.

Beasley looked like a man amongst boys out there. He looked Carmelo/Durant level back then. But never close in the NBA.

He seems to lack the competitive fire that the greatest have.

Seemingly. He’s just never really improved much since he was 20 or so, despite seeming to have the body and athleticism to do so(even more so than Melo IMO).As advanced offensively as Carmelo was in HS/college, he kept getting better through his first 10 or so pro years despite not having overly special athletic gifts.

I would've guessed he was a little closer to 40, maybe I was just remembering the December run where he played 13 games and was at right at 40 min per game.

Like I said, i'm not saying it was the only reason he got hurt. He came in with knee injuries. It probably didn't help though
