Class of 2025 PG Tyler Jackson (MD) Offered

Does this kid pass ever? Or are all his highlights shots all the time?

His shot is slow as all get out. He needs to speed that up or the close outs will be in his shirt.

He’s a PG?

We've seen this movie before.

This kid has a lot of Mike Edwards / Josh Wright / Kaleb Joseph vibes. He's fast, has a quick first step, and is a scorer -- but lacks a handle, is slight of build, and isn't a natural lead guard.

so we could theoretically take a more natural PG and him or is that off the table?

Jackson doesn't really play to his size... I wouldn't guess he's barely cracking 6' and 160lbs by watching him play.

He's a creative scorer and gets everybody he plays against on roller skates with his lightning fast change of direction. He's too much of a scoring guard at this point, for my taste. I was glad to see him throw the lob off the pick and roll in at least one of his highlights.

I love prospects with an elite skill, and Jackson has elite change of pace and direction... Can the rest of the PG skills be taught?

I’d really prefer we get a PG who is a PG already.

The whole “let’s get a SG / scoring guard, and make him into a PG”
has been an epic fail for over a decade now.

Tyler Ennis was the last actual PG who came to Cuse w PG skills and excelled at - wait for it! -
being a PG.

Silent G was the last of those guys who actually made it work -
but that took until his RS Sr year.

Kaleb, Frank, Jalen, JGIIII, Judah -
We’ve had sooooooo many dudes who lacked actual PG skills, forced to play PG.

I don’t get what you’re complaining about. It’s been very clear that we’re all in on Acaden who is a PG. We have a top 50 guard as a backup option who would commit tomorrow. If we miss on Acaden, we will likely take him and a a portal guard depending on who stays. There is no world where Tjack would start.

Jackson would be a commit already if we truly made him a priority. There’s no sense complaining about him because he won’t be our PG in 25.

Who is the backup?

No shot at the kid from Albany right?
Doubtful. Red has paid little attention to him. Gmac recruited him and Engelstad assumed the relationship when he replaced him. We probably could have had him had Red went hard for him starting in the spring.

Ugh...

We’ve got an awful lot of guys here who are better talent evaluators than the coaches are. Surprised more of you haven’t been scooped up by some programs.

Well, point guard is an important position. THE most important position in college basketball.

And we have a gaping hole after this season at the lead guard position. Maybe we land Lewis, who the coaches covet, or maybe he ends up at a blue chip program -- which seems increasingly likely.

So it's understandable why people are focused on this.

You seem very very pressed. Know him personally?
Might be a reason one other school is recruiting him….

I suspect more than one other school is recruiting a top 50 player. But my point is that if Red thinks he’s a point guard, I’ll take his opinion over all these self appointed experts.
He says he’s a point guard?

Knock knock - Judah 2.0? (albeit a little smaller)
And people made it seem like there was a hard cut / total administration change from JAB to Red. Yet here we go again with recruiting, unless it’s a package deal with Kiyan.

Nothing in your post is close to being true.
