I'm numb but proud. Does that make sense? Those kids left everything out on the floor. Selfless team play resulting in only 5 turnovers. A few thoughts.
-Buddy was insane. Dropped 31 on one of the best defensive programs in the country. Onions for days. And let's not forget about the clutch free throws. What a gem of a performance. Kid never looked tired. What a work ethic he has to make himself into the kind of player who can submit a performance like that.
-All game long I wanted Kadary in for JG3. Just a better matchup on both ends. But JB made it sound like the knee is still an issue so you have to take him at his word. On the other hand he played the last ten minutes or so . . . but he doesn't look like himself and hasn't finished as well as he has. But JG cannot score on Clark and frankly he got beat off the dribble a couple of times and got lucky when they didn't score. As good as JG was yesterday, he was not today.
-Quincy battled his arse off. So much heart. Played 39 minutes, gave us a double double and as usual came on in the second half. Wish he had made a few more free throws but that happens. On the game winner he didn't get his hand up but I don't think it would have mattered.
-I'll never understand why AG can be so good one minute and so maddening/selfish the next. Truly perplexing player and has been all year. I can never understand by he doesn't go to the hole more when he is so athletic and the defender is overplaying his shot.
-Some might have wanted more Jesse but Huff was not the issue in the second half.
-Two blatant referring screw ups are huge in a game decided by a buzzer beater. The Huff over the back/goaltend was a disgrace as was the non five second call which was clear (go on twitter and see the fan timing the play on his phone if you haven't already seen it).
-This team has come so far from a few weeks ago when many were questioning their heart and declaring this one of our worst teams. In a way this game reminds me of the Missouri OT heartbreaker when Red went off with Buddy playing the part of Red. I'm proud of this team and hope they get the tourney spot they deserve.

I think you make a ton of great points here, but Jesse would have neutralized Huff getting so many tip outs, keeping the possession alive for UVA.

Wonder if you don't give the sixth foul with 10 seconds left. It didn't really do much. Maybe you just play the last possession out more aggressively and if you fould them because you're in their face they take it out of bounds.

I wish we would press once in awhile when we are struggling to score, especially against VA. It gets us open shots. No one can tell me with the drought at the end of the 1st half and beginning of the 2nd half it wouldn't have helped our stagnant offense. Also, JB says we aren't a good pressing team but it looks good when we are behind all the time. LGO.We are in and playing great ball.

Seems like Girard is getting quite a pass for his terrible performance .. just goes to show you how low expectations have fallen ... it’s now basically not worthy of comment when he brings nothing

I realize we had no other option due to KRs injury .. but that doesn’t mean he can’t step up a tiny bit

Girard couldn’t hit sht as usual today. His entire game is predicated on making shots and he doesn’t do that well enough. Hopefully he improves in the offseason.

Thought the same.

1.) The foul was worthless, as it was taken way too early.
2.) Virginia expected it and had a set play drawn up off of the inbounds.

Foul makes sense if you’re going to then really guard the inbound and try to make it hard for them to get it in bounds. I maintain teams use the foul way too early.

I finally can force myself to write.

Huge disappointment after mostly great first half.
And sweet comeback down 6 with 2:00 to go.

Give UVA credit...good team and tremendous coach.
He got his end of game play for an open look.

We can nitpick this bad call and that bad shot or missed free throw.
But the cliche is true...the guys left it on the floor.
It took almost an entire season but this team is pretty good now.
And Buddy is super.

They should get into the tournament.
And they can do some real damage there.
Remember the old saying: it's not really an NCAA Tournament without the Orange!

Somedays it feels like Girard and griffin should only be playing 12 minutes, other days they can play the full 40. Multiple reasons for each. Really looking forward to Girard next year, not sure where Griffin will be, but would prefer Q only because Buddy is at SG.
Add that to Edwards not playing because the moon isn't in planetary alignment, and you got a strange but very solid team peaking late.

Joe had 6 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals and 1 TO. He is a minus defender and not as good as Kadary but he has been better than Kadary in this tourney.

We left it out there. We deserve to be in the tourney. No one will want to face us. No one.

And, honestly, kudos to Buddy for elevating his game to All ACC level as of late. Honestly, he's blown the doors off my expectations for what he could ascend to.

Great post. I had to go out for a hour wolk to cool down. Bit difficult to do when it is 75 degrees outside. Correct in that we could pick this one to death but the team less Griffin left it all on the floor. If we do get a chance to play on, I hope Kadary's knee can come around ina week.

He's 5'11" and tried to sneak a layup by a 7'1" center. That was mind boggling. He has some really great plays, but then follows it up with something incredibly stupid.
