Q&A with ESPN's Quint Kessenich

Irony.

If the BE had never been formed ... SU would have played UMass and Loyola this season.

And probably lost both.

Now we all know that Quint is Hopkins - southern lax homer - and I watched the Duke/UNC ACC championship game on Sunday and Quint said that Syracuse is no longer a defense to offense transition team. He didn't clarify if he was solely talking this year or as in a trend. My interpretation was that he was talking trend and he's obviously wrong there. But he's absolutely right in that we are not this year - we're pretty horrible actually.

Up and down transition though is obvisouly Syracuse's traditional style and imprint on the game and that's not going to change unless we hire a slow down coach. We're just not good at it this year for a variety of reasons - namely personel.

Years ago when we had the ball in transition, you put a shot on cage. Even if it was a bad shot, you peppered the goalie, and eventually good things would happen.

Now everytime we have a fast break op, we have to pull up and screw around for a minute to get the "right" personnel on the field ... and give the defense time to get their people on.

Has the game become that specialized that 1/2 the team doesn't know how to shoot anymore?
