Say what you will about the game at MetLife ...

Interesting article in the PS with Giasante regarding this topic. I don't know why I read the comments on there but so many complaints about how this hurts the local fanbase WHEN THE LOCAL FAN BASE DOESNT GO TO GAMES.

Neither do the alumni or out of town fans. At the Dome or MetLife.

I'm not saying SU should buy out of this game at all. It's a great financial deal, but the rationale for playing doesn't go beyond the check.

I'm not sure how you write off the exposure bit. The game ad is on every channel. Just head Michael Smith on Numbers Never Lie do an on air read about the game. That's worth something. A lot of somethings actually.

He said that they couldn't get a home and home and that he couldn't give the details into the WF/ND agreement - since it was between them. Not a lie. Incompetence? Maybe.

I'm fine with incompetence since it's synonymous with Giansante's track record.

Exactly. So you need to make up the money some where right? Especially when this deal was inked, no?

We signed the MetLife deal in 2009.

We weren't offered ACC membership until 2011.

ND didn't agree to a scheduling arrangement with the ACC until last year.

Ironic that someone who's as concerned with "false narratives" as you are would continue to attack the university for a decision that was made years prior to the ND/ACC scheduling agreement.

Just like you continue to spread the narrative that SU has only a "1 in 7" chance of ever getting a game with Notre Dame in Syracuse ... in spite of the fact that Gross went on record the other day saying that ND will play in Syracuse between now and 2025.

Don't let the facts get in the way of your Anti-ND/Anti-Gross obsession.
Did you read Giansante's answer to the question about Gross comments ND would be in the Dome. He didn't confirm them. He said he was unaware of those comments. The simple math I have outlined tells you we only have 1 in 7 chance of getting ND in the Dome why can't you acknowledge that.

14 ACC teams will get 2 ND home games = 28 games. 2 of 14 will get a 3rd home game. I HIGHLY DOUBT IT HAS BEEN DECIDED WHO IS GETTING THE 3RD HOME GAMES.
I will take my fact to the bank way more than anything you just said.

Exposure does nothing unless we win games. SU could play lousy teams, start off 5-0 and get ranked 22nd and it would do more than a prime-time national tv loss. That's the reality.

Nope. Not true. Our logo and name is on prime time before the game is even played. The promo features us and ND on equal footing.

You're simply wrong. Tons of money earned through contract and tons of exposure win or loss.

How does that translate to money? Merchandise? Tickets at the Dome? Donations?

Exactly- no one is saying anything tangible. Just branding and exposure.

In other words ... you're right and the Athletic Director at Syracuse University is wrong.

How much tons of money are we getting for this one game?

I like the way he just tossed out the number $10-$15m and then said they can't calculate it.

All I have said is we have a 2 in 14 chance to get one of the 2 teams to get a 3rd ND home game.

Gross never says when that future ND game at the Dome will be it could be after 2026 and this 12 year rotation and technically he wouldn't be misspeaking.
The fact Giansante already refuses to back to Gross's statement should atleast show he doesn't know.
I swear to goodness if anybody objective read what I wrote on his issue and what the people on the other side wrote it would be fun to hear what they said.

Gross said that Notre Dame will eventually come to the Carrier Dome under its scheduling agreement with the ACC

Since ND's scheduling agreement covers 2014-2025, it would narrow down the time frame for ND's appearance in Syracuse.

Gross said during his ESPN radio appearance that Notre Dame will be coming to the Carrier Dome at some point. Do you have any idea when?

Giansante: I'm not aware of what he said. There are a lot of teams, a lot of locations to cycle through. It's hard to know what's going to go on in the future. Notre Dame carries a lot of clout. I'm sure they will have some say in who they will play each year. They're going to have some sort of say. They're not going to give them Florida State and Clemson on a year that they play Southern Cal. They're not going to overload them. I just don't know. I'm not involved in how the conference's scheduling algorithm works. It will put Notre Dame here at some point, I just don't know when.

Saying that ND will play here "at some point" doesn't refute Gross' earlier statement. Giansante not knowing isn't the same thing as Giansante saying it's not happening.

That article is so full of holes, double speak, non answers and deception it's not funny.

I'm still looking for where he says we are getting $5m for this game like so many are claiming.

It's alright Bees because Axeman believes it and according to him the SU sign behind Jeter last night proved once and for all that the NYC initiative "worked". No one will give you numbers on the $ spent advertising in NYC vs increases in donations, tickets, merchandise, etc. Just that sign in a bunch of photos on social media is reason enough to not question any longer, or else you are just someone who is against "big-boy football"...whatever that means.

It is simple Gross would rather have the Metlife $$$ than HFA in Syracuse. This is basically what everything comes to down. Get ready for more road/Metlife series game scheduled.

Makes perfect sense until the program is winning 8 - 9 games regularly and SU can demand home games against top level opponents (ex: Tennessee during the McNabb era).

Except we got LSU here and the Uconns, Rutgirls and other northeast schools have gotten top teams.

Have you been living in a cave? All branding and commercials aim to increase interest in the product - it's advertising 101. It translates into eye balls for that game and a familiarity with our brand nationally - it's all a net positive.

Why do politicians run ads? Not to buy something per say- but to influence. To get attention for a cause.

If you don't think that matters you're questioning all of television and print advertising. It has value or people wouldn't pay billions to run ads at all.

Are you arguing that the exposure is bad for the university?

More than 5 times the amount from an average bowl game. That's about 5 million.

That's a lot for one game. I don't know how much an average done game generates - but you have to staff it, pay for the domes utilities, buy concessions to sell or not. I'd bet it's south of 1 million by a bunch.

No place in that article does it say we got $5m for this game or any game. People claimed we did vs PedSt too. He keeps refusing to answer about specific numbers and keeps referring to "the deal". Is the deal just this game? Both ND games? The ND and PedSt games? The whole 14 games? Who knows. But it's funny nobody will go on record about this game. My guess is we got $5m for the 2 ND games.

One a year is my guess. And I have no idea why you can't see that sacrificing one game a year to make 5x the amount of money isn't good for the university. You have nothing to stand on except "I want to see one more home game". It's week and shortsighted.

It doesn't say that. Now you're making stuff up?
