You could run some interesting screens with 3 tight ends.
And create favorable single coverages
You could run some interesting screens with 3 tight ends.
can anyone answer my question identifying the good college offenses that use two tight ends often?
I read this and immediately felt as though I was punched in the gut...how soon we forget that what you describe above happened all to often.1st Down: Run up the middle; no gain.
2nd Down: Incomplete bubble pass (stop for review to see if it was a lateral pass)
3rd Down: Slant pass or off tackle for 5-8 yards.
4th Down: Punt.
How many have ever really tried a "12", or even a "13"?
agree. there are offenses that lots of teams have lots of success with and we're rolling the dice on this. lester's going all in on differentiating himself. might make some sense from his perspective, this is his one shot. not from our's.
mcdonald was incompetent but at least he was smart enough to just buy something off the shelf that would've been ok had he been able to call plays at all
i'm so tired of doing weird stuff. grob comes in West Coast. good reason why college teams don't run west coast offense. then white or whoever it was sees some powerpoint about the pistol and we got andrew robinson taking short snaps and dropping back like some girl avoiding puddles. that's unique. browning comes in and we got multiple ball carriers running one ball. that's unique. then spence comes in and throws the bubble screen all day long. our other wrinkle that year was to never go shotgun. that's unique.. then marrone white knuckles for 2 years before going up tempo with 3 good WR, a tight end and a running back in the shotgun all day. how ordinary!I'm intrigued by the possibility of a "12" or "13" offense. Pretty sure it's rarely been implemented by any college team as a predominate scheme. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.
One of these days we'll run that six wide receiver set I've been talking about for years.i'm so tired of doing weird stuff. grob comes in West Coast. good reason why college teams don't run west coast offense. then white or whoever it was sees some powerpoint about the pistol and we got andrew robinson taking short snaps and dropping back like some girl avoiding puddles. that's unique. browning comes in and we got multiple ball carriers running one ball. that's unique. then spence comes in and throws the bubble screen all day long. our other wrinkle that year was to never go shotgun. that's unique.. then marrone white knuckles for 2 years before going up tempo with 3 good WR, a tight end and a running back in the shotgun all day. how ordinary!
mcdonald had an ordinary offense but couldn't count and talked like an idiot to the press so now we're going to run a 3 TE offense but thta's ok because those tight ends can line up in the backfield and out at WR. defenses won't know what to do when matched up with a guy who has to learn three positions in the few hours that colleges get to practice. all these spread teams that give each of their players one thing to do so they can master it, they are all wet.
Not often. It was west sales and lemon
Hback is the new multiple.I don’t think we’re talking the true definition of a TE. Syracuse is going to use a TE and an HBack or a Slot. At times you’ll see Parris and Dunk on the field together and at times you’ll see a TE or HBack and Slot WR on the field at the same time.
We don’t really have a traditional TE other than Parris. Dunk, Enoicy, Custis, Provo are more the HBack type. Tweener athletic kids. They can line up at TE or HBack.
It’s doubtful Lester is not going to take 3 of our best, most athletic playmakers off the field in favor of a traditional TE. Broyld, Estime and Phillips will see the field a lot.
I went and watched some of the Elmhurst video again and it’s easy to see where our personnel can plug in. I think it’s going to be a good dynamic offense with our current personnel. That’s a big key. Not square peg round hole.
I also believe it’ll be a mix of ‘12’ and read option spread. Some of the Elmhurst vid he goes 4 wide and actually airs it out with short passes or over the top. They mix it up nicely, everything is out of shotgun or pistol, read option, option, wildcat, 4 wide, 3 wide, 2 wide, 1 wide, single back i, all sorts of stuff; run pass mix. what's not to like. people are getting too hung up on TE's.
pitt pfffffffffffffffWe've had this discussion before: Wiscy and PITT - both pretty good on O last season. BC too (but they were not as good).
Where are these dynamic two TE college offenses?

...Stanford.We've had this discussion before: Wiscy and PITT - both pretty good on O last season. BC too (but they were not as good).
...sucks...Stanford.
sounds like there'll be lots of disappointed people then, judging by this threadPeople here are too hung up on the 12. Line up a Custis, Enoicy, or Broyld and becomes 11 really quick. Jesus. It was quoted in one Syracuse article and now it's a daily thing with this board, along with the uniform debate. There's plenty of shitty spread offenses too.
Hback is the new multiple.
what will ashton broyld do as an hback that would be better than just splitting him out wide?So you line up any of the following:
TE – Dunk/Parris/Enoicy/Custis/Provo
HBACK – Broyld/Estime/Phillips/Dunk/Enoicy/Custis
2 WRs, 1 RB
Is that a ‘12’ two tight end set?
what will ashton broyld do as an hback that would be better than just splitting him out wide?
do we want to bring another defender in the box and have broyld attempt to block him there?
hopefully CIL is right and this is all much ado about nothing and these TE are actually just big WR.
h backs are smaller quicker tight ends that can block. if they can't you don't get "matchups". i don't don't see estime or phillips in that role for physical reasons, and i don't see broyld in that role for other reasons
it's way easier to just stick a WR out at the sideline and have one less person to deal with when running the ball
Please wipe the drool off my face when we do.One of these days we'll run that six wide receiver set I've been talking about for years.
