well, that remains to be seen, doesn't it?

those teams featured Trevor Cooney, who when he was recruited was supposed to be one of the top shooters in the country but turned out to be "shakey potatoes."

So, you never know. The coaches just have to do what they do - evaluate kids, get the best fits they can for the system and then try to coach them up

And then we do what we do - worry and complain at every step along the process!:noidea:

Cooney was the only shooter we recruited for 3 years until we signed Lydon and Mali. It was him or nobody. Teams left Jerami Grant wide open when he was on the court. The same can be said for Roberson.

[Q

my point is that you never know what you are going to end up with. Cooney was supposed to be a knock down shooter and not much else; he ended up being a versatile guard and a very inconsistent shooter.
Swider might end up being a 30% shooter, while Bazley or whoever ends up shooting 37% or better. Dolezaj and Hughes might end up being knock down shooters.

I just think its unnecessary to fret and worry so much and instead just watch to see how it plays out, which is often quite different than how the "experts" told us it would be

All very true. We fret. It's what we do.

Bill Reynolds? If Leo said it, I 100% believe it. He's dialed into the recruiting world up here.

Has anyone mentioned Chris Herren's kid yet? Does he have a shot at playing bigtime hoops.
On the money first paragraph. No idea on the second.

it's funny that you mention Chris Herron's kid in the same post about Papiles info being 100%. The Boston globe would disagree since it was Papile that told the globe that Herron was going to Syracuse.

I'm not sure but someone on here said in a previous post he's pretty in tune with the AAU circuit
Yeah, but that was when he was saying Swider was coming here. Now that he's not, he's unreliable ;)

I just exchanged messages with him on Twitter. He is hearing it's Xavier.

You'd think and hope JB is on the phone like yesterday if they believe he's X bound too. Gotta go for the last minute persuasion.

Looking forward if we miss out on cole, who would we target as potential shooters at the wing?

I wasn't talking about the MCW/Triche year, but whatever floats your boat.
I mean you did say 2013 to be fair. I think we can all agree balance is the most important thing. Having a bunch of knock down shooters doesn't work if you have nothing inside either. And none of it works if you don't play d at all.

Not from our side. From Swider's side, I doubt it's a big factor. Buddy is closer to a 2 than a 3 size-wise. Cole is a 3/4 and is a pretty big kid.

I think if we don't get him, playing time could be pointed to as a factor but much more important is the relationship with the Xavier staff over a long period of time. I thought it was down to Duke-Syracuse but he had been mentioning Xavier a lot in interviews throughout the process. They shouldn't have been underestimated.

Damn, the reports were so good on his visit here. I was pretty confident against Duke. This would be another one that stings, even this early on.
I'm thinking less about positional battles and more about roles on the team. JB thinks that way too. So a guy that is a 2 that can hit 50 percent of his threes could chew up looks etc. look at TR as an example. JB had a "role" in his mind for him.

Bazley shot 30% from 3 in EYBL. That's not underrated. That's below average.

He shot 40% in another event. So, split the difference. I think he could hit 35%. Plus, he's a big that doesn't need to shoot but we can swing stats whatever way we want.

Okay, I get you now. Great point. Hard to believe we wouldn't be able to find a role for two shooters but you make a lot of sense.

Really...X? Wow.

Well, best of luck.

No need for a meltdown here, but I'll sit back and watch, I guess.
