Class of 2018 SF Cole Swider (RI) Transferring from Villanova to Syracuse

I actually don't expect much of a meltdown. Just some of the usual handwringing about Gerry. If we get him, shock and awe. Amazing how fluid recruiting is. We felt so great after the visit.

The HC has to do more leading in recruiting. He doesn't have to be involved in all the day to day stuff but he needs to prioritize these kids and give them the attention they deserve. Being a CEO HC works for Duke because they recruit for themselves. Syracuse isn't Duke we need JB to do more.

This year's class is going to tell us how JB can do it at recruiting without Hopkins.

Once we determined he was good enough, we went hard and he may just be more comfortable with another staff. This loss won't be on GMac its more on the big dog. As Cusefan0307 said the 100% zone, and how passive we are becoming is hurting us. We really need to hit our other targets if we lose Swider. This class is insanely important. JB should be texting/contacting Carey as often he can. Carey is beyond huge if we lose Swider.

We can overlook one bad cycle/year of not landing our top targets. There were reasons for 2017 going badly--the uncertainty about JB's retirement timeline both inside and outside the program, the scholarship reductions and recruiting restrictions. But the ship must be righted for 2018. Signing Swider would give us some nice momentum early in the 2018 cycle. If we lose him to X, we must rebound strongly and land some of our top targets in 2018. (That said, I like the 2017 guys we did end up signing.)

Duke is going to get Cam Reddish. They have a top 10 kid pretty much locked. Duke has had an NBA draft pick go in the top 3 the last 4 drafts(Jabari Parker, Jahill Okafor, Brandon Ingram, Jayson Tatum) . They are going to get elite recruits.

Duke fans don't have to be upset. They have won plenty of top tier recruits and haven't been able to hit a quality Freshman PG in 4 years unlike Syracuse has.

Bazley shot 30% from 3 in EYBL. That's not underrated. That's below average.

Latest cumulative stats have Bazley at 31.8%, Swider at 35% from 3. Swider has about 100 more shot attempts though.

Yes bring it back to me. If you don't like my opinions all I can is oh well they aren't going away. The coaches obviously offered after the camp and if that is the reason we lose out then I guess they screwed up.

I don't expect perfection which is what you are inferring but I think JB has been bad in the recruiting these last few years and we have pretty much got whoever Mike Hopkins was able to reel in. This year's recruiting class is on JB.
