Shafer

Humiliated are you kidding me?

They guy went 7-17 his last 2 years.
He was humiliated now?

Shafer should shut the hell up and be glad he got the freaking job to start with.

Make him HC for life my god. Another year wasn't going to turn it around. We made a mistake giving GRob year 4. A mistake needs to be rectified as early as possible. Screw that guy if he felt humiliated. Go get another P5 school to hire him.

Dude, chill! He was fired and didn't think he should of been. Okay? I'm not saying it was wrong to fire him. What I am saying is that if you thought he was coming here without a huge chip on his shoulder, you were mistaken. Yesterday was his vindication. Like it or not. He came in to our house and won.

Honestly I wasn't directing my frustration at you it's to the mindset of Shafer.

The guy was incompetent. He should have been fired after the Isis press conference.

Then he basically had his team completely unprepared to end the 2014 season. His recruiting was sub P5 standards.
He didn't get screwed. He was lucky to get the job.

And the was the FU. But instead he also went with the unprofessional and humiliating way. There's no denying that. We all saw it.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I bet Scott would just say FU. Anyhow, it was a horrible loss.

Last I saw, he did win. His kids were better prepared and they executed better than ours.

Prepared to fake injuries?

Let's be honest, he can *feel* great about vindication or something if he wants. Truth is he wasn't fired for his defensive chops. He was fired for not being up to the full job as HC (poor hiring, meh recruiting, and most especially a really bad OC hire). He showed us what we already knew - he's a great DC. He was fired for things he didn't do yesterday and won't do for that team. He's not up to it.

And he showed his true colors in the process. I was rooting for him in his new role. Not anymore.

Maybe our corners should of faked injuries on the two long touchdowns. And I wish everyone would stop with the sour grapes. We had a lot of opportunities to win and each time our kids weren't up to the challenge.

Sour grapes are jusr

You have some sort of crystal ball that allows you to see what would happen had they not cheated? If our system is tempo and that tempo is broken by cheating, it's not sour grapes - it leaves us unable to judge the job he actually did as DC yesterday, IMO. Beat us straight up? Naw. We don't know the answer to that.

It was a 7 point game. One team was unethical. Good for him.

Until the rules are changed, the delaying tactics won't change. Rationalizing the loss away, won't change a damn thing and it won't change the fact that we weren't prepared for this game and didn't execute. That's totally on us. We lost the game. No one stole it.

It's not against the rules - but it is BS. And we don't know if we'd have won or lost had they not done it. a 7 point game.

Jesus, it doesn't matter if they did it or not. We lost. We were not prepared to play the game. We came away with 3 points off three TO's in the first quarter. We muffed a punt up 7, then proceeded to get scorched TWICE over the top. We couldn't run the ball and our receivers couldn't catch the ball. Perhaps the focus should be on those facts. Not on whether 3 kids "faked" injuries.

We lost they won but Shafer showed who he is.
Coach P was screwed at the end. He had class though.
Shafer was given a golden ticket he should have never got and it hurt the program. However he was done wrong because he was blue collar and said crazy things like Lock 'em up in the Dome and he gave access to local coaches.

Shafer got his moment yesterday now he is gone forever and can go into oblivion like he was before SU gave him the HC job.

So they give bowl games to teams that lose but do it honestly?
I swear to god the Shafer people make him out to be mother Theresa because he was blue collar and gave them access.
He could be the best human on the planet Earth but he was not done wrong.
He was lucky to get the job.

We hired the architect's(Marrone) painter to build the house after we lost the architect.

I don't think anyone is making Shafer out to be a great guy. We're mocking all the people claiming a moral superiority victory like that counts for anything.

Also if Shafer was lucky to get the job and got put out on his ass after 3 years but came in here with directional U #615 and held Dino's offense to -26 yards offense in the 1st quarter, what does that say about our current staff?

I have a feeling the players and staff just like 99% of those in the prediction thread thought this game was going to be a cake walk. The offense was not well prepared and looked like they never saw a blitz before.

We lost.
The offense sucked early on.
The OL struggled.
The QB struggled.
We had drops.
We had poor play calling.

The staff deserves legit criticism for that.
This staff also knows to function as a D1 staff.
They are upping the talent.
This staff saw how bad the D was last year and have strategically worked to improve it this year.

Shafer is gone for the foreseeable future.
Honestly we struggled and the staff better make adjustments. I am confident this staff will as the HC actually gives off the image he knows what he is doing.

Yep. I'm angriest because I just feel like the team was not well prepared. I feel a bit better that Dino said it was on him but I'll wait till after CMU to see if we learned anything.

Glad Shafer is gone- I remember hearing his ISIS comments after that night game against Louisville on the drive home and he was getting roasted by people calling in to the radio station. He was our Bill Stewart.

Shafer is gone. I certainly would never call him a saint. He created some problems for himself with his tempermental nature. I do like and respect him. It cracks me that so many people want to crucify the guy. He's gone.

Time to focus on Central Michigan. They are good. The last time SU played CMU was the game where the CMU defender made a very violent and very late hit on Dungey's head. That was a major blow for Dungey at the time, and I really hope it doesn't affect his career at some point down the line. It was also a major blow for the team that season. The game against CMU at home next week is huge.

I liked Scott. But his recruiting plan, and he said this every time I ever saw him talk about recruiting, was we are going to get the 2 star kid that blows up. We did it with Justin P. and we did it with Chandler Jones. That is not a sustainable plan. You need to get 4 star kids. Dino is trying to do that. The only 4 star kids he went for were kids that had problems. Robert Washington. The Clark kid that went to Pitt. His game management was also bad. Congrats to Scott for his big win yesterday. But it was really against himself. I doubt in 3 years that he would stand much of a chance against the roster we are heading to.
