So... Did Benny end up going to practice?

Joe has never been a good much less great ball handler, and in most of his career his scoring makes up for that. If you think he is /was I do not know what to say to you.
The thing I find strange is removed from most of the ball handling his scoring production lately has been lacking. Not sure what is going on with that.
Suspect it might have to do with taller and quicker players guarding him!!

Thanks for supporting my opinion of some of the advanced metrics.

Do you think advance metrics suggest Iverson is a better defender than Bowen because he had more steals?

I know that even the site that publishes the advanced metrics says you wouldn’t be wrong to ignore DBPM because BPM is nothing more than box score stats and there’s very few defensive stats and it’s based upon blocked shots, steals and defensive rebounds. Nobody watches the game like PFF does in football and evaluates every player every play.

Technically, it wasn’t given to him.

I’m not talking about DBPM.

again, I ask, do you think Iverson has better defensive rating (and general defensive metrics) than Bowen because he has more steals

its ok to just say you don’t know.

but I would recommend to look up the algorithm for defensive rating

If Burgan doesn’t get suspended for 7 games and Walton is allowed to play, that team would’ve been solid.

We’re getting the sad, bummer of an ending that we feared would happen if he hung on too long. It sucks.
Yep, it is going to end, albeit with a little less drama, the way Bobby Knight went out.

Instead of celebrating an amazing career filled with accomplishments with some deserving accolades and love, so much of the goodwill is going to be lost if he continues down this path. Friggin sad is right.

Frankly, I’m not sure about that. Hope you’re right though.

I stand corrected. Didn’t realize he ever made it to campus…and I was there at the time.

Wow. I remember that pic. That would have been an even more talented squad if Walton had survived more than a couple days / weeks at the Cuse.

Joe has an above average ACC handle for a 2G. His handle has very much helped the team out this season.

I suggest saving that kind of fun for the weekend.

I forgot about LaSean Howard! I just looked up and saw he scored 10 points for Hampton when they famously beat #2 seed Iowa state in the dance.

No idea really but in the nba Bowen was a far better defensive player.

Joe has an adequate handle for a 2 no more(never should have played point), but his value is only in his scoring abilities. If he is not doing that he is a net negative for this team. Bad defender, not quick, but generally gives you all he has got.

Virginia did not have a bigger player on him, although they occasionaslly doubled him with a big. Faster, probably Joe is no Flash.

Reporting has Benny back at practice today.

I have this exact photo that the entire team and coaching staff signed. I was a sophomore in high school, and my buddy and I would sneak into the tunnel after the games and wait for the players to come out. Either in the garage door area, or just outside the airlock door near the loading dock. Surprisingly, the staff didn’t really bother us. We just acted like we belonged. But I made it a point to collect everyone on that photo that was either a coach or a player.

Back when I was young and stupid of course - can’t condone that behavior nowadays.
