Here we are at 3-0 with an SEC power coming into the Dome and we should all be more excited than we've been for an SU home game in years. We have our best QB since McNabb under center, a true freshman who has the highest pass efficiency in the country through 3 games.

But because some idiot meathead MAC linebacker couldn't handle his defense being torched, the outlook for Saturday's game has changed completely.

With Dungey the offense has looked really good, and we would've had legitimate hope that our offense could move the ball even against a great defense. With a great game from the QB position, a few breaks/turnovers, and with playing at home, maybe we could pull the upset. We should be trying to talk ourselves into that.

Instead, we will be sending the 5th-string walk-on QB to face one of the country's best defenses. Nobody here can find any good reason to talk themselves into even being competitive. What a huge letdown.

Saturday should've been an opportunity to showcase a QB and program on the rise in front of a national audience. Instead, this game will likely just confirm everyone's preconceptions about SU football. So frustrating.

My thoughts...it could've been ED's burst on the national stage game. Instead I fear we'll see a half empty stadium in the 4th. Our sh!tty fans were leaving the Dome last week at the end of regulation...you think they'll stay around if we are down 5 TDs in the 4th?

Not if the last Clemson home game is an indicator. 50K to start about 15k ended that game

I couldn't believe it when people started walking out before overtime started. A lot of students bailed after the 3rd too.

On the flipside we get a huge built in excuse for our performance. Dungey will likely stil let a lot of run during the telecast. What will be do when he gets back etc. Or we could win the game and create an epic DOME moment.

We also might have seen Sunshine get completely exposed on the national stage.:noidea:

That's why these games are a Catch-22. So near 50K got all excited pre-game to then see the team beat bad. What are the odds that didn't negatively effect their desire to come to another such big game?

Shafer always talks about locking the opposing team in the Dome. Maybe we should start doing that with our fans. Go all Crazy Joe Clark on them.

couldnt agree more. Granted we probably arent gonna win with Dungey, but to go out there with a JC walk on running a scaled down basic offense on national TV is such a let down

OttoinGrotto behave yourself.
I'm more than a little concerned about the pressure fans are putting on Dungey.

He is much, much better than I think anyone could have expected him to be, especially so early in his career, but there is a LOT of unknown and his story hasn't been written yet.

We do this all the times as fans. Everybody starts to look like a Savior. Marrone was deified, then we were reminded he's human. Shafer was the #hardnosed 2nd coming of Schwartzwalder, now there are big questions. After three games we've got people anointing Dungey and people are saying with drop dead certainty that if Dungey doesn't get hurt vs CMU we easily beat them by multiple TDs, and that's something we just can't know. Now we have people saying that if we have Dungey we can go toe to toe with the #8 team in the country. I think that's a bit... much.

Dungey's a good QB. I'm reasonably confident of that. Good QBs have bad games. Sometimes several in a row. That's going to happen, and it's ok. I just don't want to see the kid get killed when it does. We're going overboard and can't help ourselves.

Wilson had a 50 yard touchdown drive to end the half didn't he.

Then we came out and ran two fake options where we handed it off instead to our running back nearly out of a shotgun (something that hasn't worked all year) to start the 2nd half. Why?
On his interception he looked deep yeah he underthrew it but had he thrown it and our receiver caught that 50 yarder the perception would be this Wilson guy is ok.

Should two possessions with awful play calls and a underthrown deep ball throw Wilson under the bus completely?

True enough, but he won't have a bad game against LSU!

He has three weeks to heal, but he also has three weeks to learn more. And two weeks of additional reps. My only fear, as it is with any of our players, is injury. Barring that, I am prepared to suffer through his inevitable bad games (and he will have them). This is a very young team around him as well.

(BTW, he is the savior of this program.)

Naw. That's exactly what's lacking in our fan base: something to actually be excited about. If you're wondering about attendance, start with wins and a "what's he going to do" star at the helm of a functioning offense.

Let people get excited.

Don't discount Zach, the kid has some game. Then I get this gut feeling Shafer is going to employ some new defense that LSU will have to take some time to figure out...The rutgirlsAl is coming out in me. Keep the faith

As long as it isn't the GTech 3-4 again. They figured that one out pretty dang quick.

It's such a shame that this is the situation we are in. I would have loved to have you guys at your best, but instead, an play, by an player has changed the landscape of the game.

Luckily for y'all, the game isn't played on a message board, and crazier upsets have happened. I hope the best for Dungey going forward, and win or lose, I will be pulling for the Orangeman for the rest of the year!

Excitement is fine. Hero worship... eh.

I think the general public, not internet whacko fan is just excited and optimistc that the kid can play. Nobody is claiming him as the savior outside of some internet whackos like us. That is the read I get, people really really like the kid, he seems to have something that cant be taught and I don't think he will rattle easily.

As far as LSU game, I still say we would have been beaten soundly but would have been another step for Dungey getting experience versus a top level team, can't hurt

That's fair. Living out of town my only interaction with SU fans is here, ie internet whacko fans.
