UB getting a new Fieldhouse.

Good for UB! They’ve certainly put a focus on revenue athletics.

Wish it didnt come at the cost of baseball and other smaller programs but at least the expanded budget is going to work.

Looks decent, probably very good for the MAC conference. Did they not even have an IPF until this?

They have lost 3 in a row and have to beat Akron to get to a bowl game. Looks like the program is losing momentum. Ohio has replaced them as the dominant team in that conference.

They do currently have a fieldhouse that was built in 2019. This is an addition to that.

Right. I was in their IPF last summer. I thought it was nice. This is just adding a 12,000 foot addition to the front of it so athletes can do their weight training + in the same building that they practice in.

they just added the weight room next to the field house. The weight room they've had was bad

Big12 could add UBuff, UMass, UConn and Temple if they don't get the 4 corners Teams.

Perfect. The average attendance of those 4 schools combined could make up for about 40% of the average attendance of Texas and Oklahoma.

Eh in the fairy world where a big conference acquisition of UB happens, a new stadium near south campus and attendance would be non-issues.

I’d like to agree with that, but Buffalo is just not a college sports town.

Its a sports town. If it had a serious product to root for, it would. UB’s never made a serious commitment. The stadium located in Amherst is proof of that.

Do I believe a really, meaningful commitment would ever be made? Probably not.

The only way UB gets to a power conference is if the Bills move away.

I'm an ignorant out of stater. Isn't the stadium on the main campus? I know it's a ways away of like downtown Buffalo. Where's the best spot? Bills?

What are the thoughts on the Bulls and Bills sharing a stadium?

The stadium on North Campus is awful. No college feel to it at all. Like a highschool monstrosity. Its the main campus sure, but the least attractive from a community engagement standpoint. The closest to a college town environment UB has is on South Campus.

North Campus is removed by about a 15-20 min drive from downtown, off in the suburbs.

South Campus has several thousand students, and most of the greek life presence. It has a metro line hub right on campus. A stadium here would provide easy transportation to and from downtown, and there are already active bus routes for students to and from north campus.

I think UB, in a more meaningful conference like the AAC, could support a new stadium for 25-32,000 on south campus. Something like what Montana and Uconn have.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Looking at the south campus now...that rotary field with the adjoining parking lots are enough room for a stadium.

If the Bulls played way out in OP at the Bills stadium, attendance would be in the triple digits.

Yeah would have to be nearer downtown, off the metro. Thats where they’d sustain a fanbase.

Like if the Syracuse Mets stadium wasn’t in Shrek’s swamp miles from downtown

Yeah, it's all Bills/Sabres unless UB is having a good season like when Oats and co. came to the Dome, then the fans jump on the bandwagon.

Entirely understandable/predictable the moment you set foot into one of their venues.

Oh yeah but it's also history related IMO. Some people have been watching the Bills/Sabres since the 70s whereas UB didn't join D1 Football until 1999.

The problem with South Campus is car infrastructure. Main Street and Bailey Ave cannot handle the traffic of 40,000 fans attending an event. The Metro line would help a little bit but it only accommodates those coming from downtown.
