Wildhack Presser 10 AM Monday

I will say, we better damn well hire an OC that has a system that can be easily and quickly installed to get results this coming season. If I hear one comment from Dino, or anyone for that matter, that it's "going to take time" to get the new offense rolling, or that "we can't expect immediate results", then I'm docking them 50 Internet points and fining them 100 Schrute Bucks.

this is where we as outsiders don't really know the internal workings of the team. Run game and passing game coordinators are a thing. For all anyone knows, maybe Schimdt had a lot of the running responsibilities? We ran a lot more outside the guards this year then we ever have before. There was certainly a shift in the running game scheme.
Yes, it's entirely Sterlin's fault the team stinks.

I feel like Dino has gotten lazy and taken his foot off the pedal... He better re-engage and turn it back on or he's gone pronto... It starts by making this roster ACC capable... It's been in shambles... I'm sick of the no depth argument... Do something about it!

While your at it get someone who can make an in-game decision... Not look like an unprepared cluster fcluck

Bit odd to hear to Dino and Gilbert weren't buddy buddy since they've known each other for a while and have worked together at different places now...

I'd settle for an OC who can get plays called in 30 seconds.

The OC decision is the most important one facing DFB. I did not know that Gilbert and Dino were at odds (thanks for the tidbit EuclidBred) but that tells you we opted for a bad personality fit to keep the offensive cult going. What'll it be this year - sacrifice everything to the cult, or taking a deep breath and changing direction, as we did with White? I fear that DFB is too deep in the O, invested personally and perhaps irrationally.
I agree it’s the most important decision facing Dino but I don’t know how much Sterlin was brought in to “keep it in the cult.”

Dino’s offense was pretty damn effective in the first 3 years so I don’t know how much needs to change schematically. To me, this year felt more like poor play calling tendencies rather than fundamental scheme issues.

Actually, it's old news. I remember Dino mentioning their disagreements last year.

Must have dissolved over time

The O is evolving and will continue to evolve. Dino has said this publicly as recently as Saturday night. He is not running the same offense that he used at BG. The new OC will obviously be THE most important hire. JW also said directly that ST will also be addressed.

You have to scheme based on the skill sets of your players. The alternative is to recruit different players, but that takes a lot more time.

I wonder who they land on

It's not a crazy desire though. In the past 20 years Pitt has made 15 bowls (including this year), had 3 losing, non-bowl seasons, and been ranked at some point in the season 12 times. Yeah, they haven't had a pinnacle season (this year could be it) but they've been consistently OK, and won 8+ games ten times.

The SU comparison is awful and depressing: 5 bowls, 14 losing non-bowl seasons, ranked twice, three seasons of 8+ wins.
That's the point: how low expectations are.

Wildhack knew this would be a tough press conference and it was. There are clearly a lot of doubts in the press that cover SU football. I like Dino and hope he succeeds. The administration has made their choice and I hope they succeed, too. But, I've seen more doubt raised by fans I honor than in recent memory. There are significant issues with players, system, and coaches. Can we improve enough to validate the administration's choice?

This was an important decision. I'm discouraged by another season of disappointment. All of us are. I had wonderful season tickets this year but don't know if I'll renew. It's not so much I don't want to, but I still live in Colorado and got some reminders that I wasn't really in control of my schedule or whereabouts this year. I got to one game with a near miss on a second. I don't know if that's enough.

I'm hoping that they'll make this decision work out and we'll all get that success we "covet". Wildhack used that term twice in his remarks and not by coincidence. They want to improve. LGO!!
