Wildhack Presser 10 AM Monday

The only thing that bothered me in the press conference was the figurative setting-up of a GoFundMe page to help in recruiting. That had the whiff of desperation to me...
Yep. If we really need money, that’s back channel stuff with people who can actually help. A tin cup to the (sad, disappointed) masses is weirdly desperate and borderline insulting

Do they make the decision to fire all the heads of departments, do they close down businesses that aren't profitable, no, that comes thru the CEO. They carry out his directives.
You’re way off here for the most part. CEO has teams set up to guide them and make recommendations. CEO is accountable but tons of lifting is done a level down.

well the back channel guys may want him to plead b/c they are capped out. It doesn't look good we're resorting to public pleas but 25 years of crappy football has crippled the booster base. I actually don't think it helped that Cantor made the school super non selective.

The school is feeling the impact of trying to do the right thing and realizing they admitted a generation of non boosters potentially.

If 5 of our coaches aren't sure they want to stay, who does he think they're going to attract? Same goes for players/recruits.

I think it was the other way around. We're not waiting on them to decide.

Tony White did a decent job this year I wouldn’t be surprised if they had him in mind for the next head coach. Idk why but I wouldn’t be overly upset about this despite I still think Dino should of been canned today

Good luck to John and Dino.

I wonder who they land on

This is like admiring an old vintage car that was hot 25 years ago to a Tesla. "They both have wheels!" "Popular and effective at getting from one point to another!"

I think Wake may take a step backwards. Hartman has been there for four years and will be 23 next year. Likely he leaves.

Definitely Pickett is gone from Pitt.
Cunningham may go, Armstrong is also high on draft boards , I haven’t heard where he is leaning.

That's the point: how low expectations are.
That's what happens when you lose a lot. We are not losing because expectations are low. It's assessing reality vs living in yesterday.

Don't kid yourself if you believe that. It certainly is a significant contributing factor. Setting the high bar at mediocrity, 6-6, just get to a bowl, any bowl, etc. is hardly high achievement. Moreover, when one sets the bar at such a level, it leaves very little wiggle room for success and the greater likelihood for failure.

SU is indeed where it is, and has been for the better part of two decades now, because of its relatively low expectations...on all fronts that encompasses.

I fear that retaining Babers will be a very costly decision... much more so than his buyout would have been. Let's be clear: SU is waving the white flag in terms of even attempting to be competitive. This is window dressing, lipstick on a pig, etc. The lack of commitment is just as obvious to recruits, hs coaches, and our competitors as it is to our diehards.

Hopefully they get a few Mitch Browning mercenary types that are okay with living out of a hotel for a year and succeed in making the team competitive and prepping some of our kids for the next level.
We were competitive this year.

I didn't get a chance to listen and have a couple questions based on the responses here (thanks for summarizing everyone).

Were the problems from the booth to the field in terms of play calling technology related or that the plays weren't ready?

Did AD mention ways to increase community involvement?

Yes, we ARE losing because expectations are low. See: The retention of Babers, Dino.
Nope. The retention of Babers is tied to when we re-upped him (beat ranked opponents 3 straight years, 10 win season).

We are losing now because he hasn’t continued on that trajectory. I think this is the first offseason since he’s been here that you could make the legitimate case he should be let go.

That he is not, tells me Wildhack has enough faith in him to give him one more year. It doesn’t tell me anything about expectations, aside from our fans like to compare us to top tier SEC schools
