Clean House

I must be a masochist because I rewatched the first half (no not the second half; I am not that crazy). Bell gets way too much s——— on this board. He was playing the best D for the Orange, was switching, etc. Hustling, etc. He is not forcing things on offense, although exactly what they are trying to do (or do with this collection of players) is somewhat of a mystery.

I dont know how anyone can watch this team with their own eyes and not see that Moore has the best and tightest handle, deepest bag of tricks, etc in the team. Just based off of that and comparing what’s left on the roster should be enough to be obvious he should be running the “point”

Speaking to going outside the SU family to hire a HC,besides Pitino, someone refresh my memory about the level of success of the Boeheim coaching tree. There are many facets of being a HC, but Boeheim, being Boeheim, was never one of those coaches who huddled with his assistants at time outs, which I felt ultimately never develops an asst coach's in-game decision making process, other than observing.

Yeah I felt he was just going with Yes Men down the stretch.

If JB was serious about his last years of his career he would have made staff changes after 2018 season that disappointed with a first rd loss to Baylor. He had to see the drop off in recruiting when Hopkins left and the current trio weren't cutting it.
 
Im more disappointed with Wildhack for not being more open minded with the search.

Were 6th in all times wins.

Often 1st in Attendance, Ive read articles how the program is 3rd or Top 5 in the country in revenue and yet this program and HC search was so small time and narrow sighted. We really handcuffed ourselves for an alum (well liked by me) to learn on the job.
 
Can I bring up this thread again and say what we now all want to say…Autry shouldn’t even make it to 2025…let him go, have an asst coach this team with national search committee on the hire.

This is bad and is only going to get worse.

They won’t win 10 games!!!

People are very quick to give him credit for Fran, and on paper, they should. But let’s not forget the story goes, Fran called JW and told him he was interested in the job. Not the other way around.

Will JW just be willing to sit around, wait and just hope his phone rings again?

I don't think JW has the luxury to hire an unknown recruiter for the basketball team head coach. That is basically what Red is. He will actually need to hire a proven coach and probably make it be a splash hire for the basketball program. He can't go cheap or our basketball program will continue to slip.

Not sure can be upset with JW. He was able move JB out and it seemed he did not want to go. Felt the only way JB was going somewhat quietly is if one of his assistants was hired. Could be wrong just seemed that way from the outside.

Totally agree but your job as AD is to hire the best coach for each sport. Not placate to a 77 year old coach who needs to be shown the door. I would have called his bluff if he didn't want to go quietly. Let him complain and make himself look bad like another bitter Bob Knight.
The AD needs to do what's best for the program, JB would eventually understand.
I imagine JB did throw a hissy fit for 12 hours after the Wake Forest loss and it was Julie that probably brought him to his senses to show up to the press conference the next day and put on a good face for everyone.

I posted about this exact thing this morning. An ADs job is to continue being AD. Welcome to Corporate America and Capitalism. Yes they will get paid more if they win but they may be fired if they go too far off the reservation. You don’t have to like it but that’s how it is.

Wildhack took his chances on Fran Brown and it worked. He’s crushing it but let’s not forget either we’re 2 OTs and a few bad breaks from 6-6 this year for football and it’s his neck on the chopping block. Brown had never even coached a game as a coordinator.

If Hack gambled on the football and the b-ball head coach and it went to crap he’d be fired. Right now he has on his resume in big bold letters look what I discovered with Fran Brown when no one else knew about him.

Dude scores 20 ppg plays hero ball to save us from early season humiliation and was universally crushed on here.

If he was smart enough to transfer he probably goes first round but he came back to Syracuse and his draft prospects tanked.
