Cornell Game Thread...

So, for me... Next year is the last chance I give Desko. You return almost everyone, will have a fall ball, and claim to have a good to great recruiting class coming in, gotta make Memorial Day Weekend a the absolute LEAST.
What does that mean? Unless you're Wildhack...

I agree. I think that’s one of Desko’s biggest downfalls, playing way too many players. I don’t understand how a middy can only play on man-up. Hate to say it, but 3/6 captains this year are, IMHO, not ACC-level players. They’ve had moments few & far between but I’ve thought this all year, I don’t do “knee-jerk”.

The hyper-specialization makes playing more than 5 offensive middies a game risky unless they’re all top flight players.

Combine that with the potential dominant opposing faceoff specialist further diminishing offensive possession and first line middies should be rested.

Hell they don’t even sprint the length of the field to play defense thanks to SSDMs and LSM.

Was literally just typing this exact sentiment with the exact players you mentioned plus O’Sullivan & minus the male symbols
great minds think alike! haha and those male symbols were actually facepalm emojis but I guess they dont go through on here lmao :bat:

Clearly I think he has to go...
you are insane if you think they are going to get rid of desko lol not anytime soon. they'll get rid of him once this program officially is in the hole, and another coach who has played at Syracuse, is fit enough and can carry the program to where it once was. could be Galloway, but he still needs more time to build his program up. I think Kevin Rice would be an excellent coach but unfortunately I dont think he will, since he's in law school at Wake Forest right now :(

They bullied us on the ride all game. Of course we suck on clears, since every guy tries to run through 3 middies w/o passing.

Absolutely, plus 90% of the time we didnt even attempt to ride our attackers ran off the field. Such a frustrating loss, Desko simply isnt getting it. No energy very little emotion and zero offense other then 1 on 1 iso moves.

Desko deserves another year, maybe 2. But the lacrosse program is beginning to look like the football program the last few years under Pasqualoni.

The team should be better next year, but so will Duke, Virginia, North Carolina and probably Notre Dame.

And there’s a slew of promising, young coaches in the game. Cornell came out of the second half tonight with a designed play. Think about that.

And everyone was in a hurry to fire Pasqualoni just to hire GRob.

Now we beg for 6-6 seasons.

I fear we will screw this up.

I can understand that thinking. But Desko isn’t young. He won’t be here many more years.

The key is to hire the right coach. Just making the tourney and getting bounced can’t suffice anymore.

Let’s see what happens next year with a more seasoned team. But I saw a lot not to like in the last minute tonight that tells me it might be time to shake it up.

I like Galloway, but is he ready for the big time?

Dan Chemotti at Richmond is a local guy.

Chuck Wilbur's name even came up tonight.

I read something about how the program is built in may. they haven't won a damn thing in may for as long as anyone normal can remember. Syracuse sports feels like a crumbling institution. football is horrible, lacrosse is average, and basketball is at best completely unpredictable. maybe it is time for SU to focus on academics.

I imagine Galloway would get a serious look. I think the alums would want to keep it in the family. But who knows.

We’ll have a better stance on that by this time next year.

Chemotti anf Galloway would be up there. No on Wilbur, way to big of a jump and his teams are less disciplined then Deskos.

Would we still have a fan board to discuss academics?

I’m guessing there would a lot of discussion involving the debate team.

how long are we supposed to have fan boards to discuss bad sports?

As long as he keeps getting ACC Coach of the Year he can stay right?

It was a pretty bad year. 8-7 is not acceptable, young or not.

Indeed! 8-7 for a 'Cuse lax team to be deemed "disappointing" vs. not good, bad, awful (pick your adjective) speaks for itself, and the fall from prominence this once mighty program has had. A .500 (ish) SU lax team should never be deemed anything but unacceptable. This is exactly the sentiment that over time will transform SU lax from extraordinary and elite to mediocre and ordinary. UGH!!!

I've always found this a false argument. They were after all two separate decisions.

Firing Pasqualoni was a good and warranted decision. Hiring GRob was a disastrous decision.

But you can't make the first decision based on the assumption of complete incompetence in making the second decision.

It’s more than that.

The staff clearly doesn’t know how to execute offensively.

It’s pretty evident that we score goals based on individual play. It has little to do with coaching.

Our extra man offense is pretty pathetic. Maybe it gets better without Lane.

And our 6 on 6 offense was non existent in the second half.

I'm hardly a lacrosse expert but interesting that you mention about our extra man offense as I've noticed that also. It seems like our opponents are much more aggressive in that situation and I'm not sure we're even going to get a decent shot off a lot of times.
