My take away from this is...typical disfunction in the Lakers front office.
A gigantic waste of everyone’s time. Literally.

He's a coward.Sounds like the Lakers made it too easy to turn down.
That would have made him the 4th or 5th highest paid coach in the league to be fair
Yeah exactly. That 9 figure contract was not real it appears. Is it more money than UConn is going to give him, yes. Not that much more money though that it was worth uprooting your entire life. After all that talk you offer the guy 6/70?
Makes sense. Why go to the nba where guys won’t listen to you. These guys are primadonnas. This isn’t the nhl where guys will actually listen to a coach.
That is what I was thinking too - Lakers don't pay coaches but there is no way this was going to sway him. After all that talk you offer the guy 6/70?
Other than what it says about the person doing the posting.Exactly.
Which is why nobody on a message board should ever feel bad about giving a coach crap.
I figured it would take 10 years and 80-100 million.Yeah I was thinking they go 15 - underneath Kerr but still big. Also 6 years… if you believe in the guy you go big
My posting stats strongly suggest I'm looooooong past caring about that.Other than what it says about the person doing the posting.

I disagree. I think the Lakers look really bad. They took a big swing and missed. That is never a positive. I also wonder if the idea of coaching Lebron might have been a negative. who would the coach of the Lakers really be? And would they really draft LeBron's son? This
Turning down $100M while living in Santa Monica and coaching the Lakers to make half the amount of money, have to work in Storrs, CT seems insane especially considering with NIL and the summer basketball circuit that a CBB coach now is essentially a 12 month a year job.
And Mike Hopkins could come back and have his pick of jobs on the East Coast, right?
I guess I just dont totally get this from the Lakers perspective. This makes the Lakers look pretty bad. What do they get out of it? Alienate the guy they end up hiring? Make the Lakers look like less than the most attractive job?
Ah yes, 2x national champion off to the NBA top 2 franchises of all time, Mike Hopkins.
They aren't on the same planet.
