Devito

No he didn't.

Davido never had "it," whatever "it" is. In shorts, he looks unbelievable, which is why he excelled at that elite 11 competition. He's got tremendous arm talent, and throws a beautiful deep ball.

But as soon as the past rush becomes live, he locks up

Really, he's like the polar opposite of Dungey.
This right here, TD was never a Gamer in High school, just an elite 12 warrior. Dino hasn’t helped either but this is more on Tommy

As someone who played D1 for the team we play next week Devito’s indecision and inability to go through his progressions is a major issue. He stares down the wideout and when they are covered he never goes through progressions or hits his outlet

For me, his ceiling is known and this is it. Nobody knows what Schrader ceiling is. Why not start him against Albany (who we better beat) and see how his composure is. There is no way Devito should start another game

Tommy is the college football equivalent of Yi Jianlian posting up a chair. Can’t adjust to the speed of the game.
Yi, though never good, was at least playable, in spots

What was TD doing on that last drive, who cares that rutgers is playing prevent, it's under 2 min we are down 10 without TO's throw the ball down the field and at a minimum give your self a chance. Just my opinion but he plays afraid to put up bad numbers, he'd rather take those short passes underneath and pad his stats then sling it and let the chips fall where they may.

The GS roll out throw across his body and fall on his ass ugly duck to Taj told me all I need to know about him vs TD. That's a throw TD would never even attempt but GS atleast took the chance to try and make something happen, because that's what gamers do. Let it all hang out there and go for it

Point of playing vs. live competition. Shrader's first drive, Dino started him on his own 8, almost like he was trying to sabotage the kid - "See, I gave him the rest of the 2nd quarter ..."

Next drive, too, we started very deep with Shrader. Only on his 3rd drive did he start to get up to game speed and put it together. Players have to play live competition to really get better.

After Tommy's 4Q fumble, not putting Shrader in to at least see if he could make something happen tells me that Dino is married to Tommy, and isn't even going to pull him when he messes up. That's BS.

That is no way to coach a football team. Maybe there's a reason that 20 guys left the program last year, aside from COVID.

Neither Devito or Shrader have the “it” factor you look for in a quarterback.

We haven’t even seen schrader play that was a crappy situation. Idk how you can judge him by that performance. He wasn’t allowed to get into a rhythm at all.
Shrader might get some run against Albany, but Tommy will start, and will start against Liberty. He's Dino's guy and as long as Dino is head coach Tommy will start.

Unfortunately your probably right , I really think schrader needs to just play the damn game and find his relationship with the receivers in a game situation. Trust me I was like o crap I had him all wrong on that first drive I was bummed and then when he made that 3rd down scramble and although he missed those deep balls they were great decisions and reads. After the end of that 2nd quarter I said to myself o crap I know most don’t see it but I do see the dungey in him he just needs to figure it out in game time situations . Tommy has a great arm but mentally he’s just not cut for d1 ball. I was at the game, I thought schrader was incredibly relaxed behind center. The line continually broke down on him.

I was shocked after several bad drives in a row and the fumble that TD trotted back out there the next drive. It defies any logic.

I’m far from a Devito fanboy/apologist but honestly feel that if he played the entire game, we win. There were big plays to be made while Shrader was in but he missed the throws. He honestly looked half asleep in his first series, really laissez faire with no energy but maybe that’s just his personality.
Yea he hasn’t played ball in 2 years and was thrown in that situation with no feel for the game or warm up into that point what did you expect?

This is my fear. Hey, that's already how things work with the basketball team, so why not football now, too?

I’m not sure this is the case. He might be giving TD every opportunity so when he fully seat belts him he can say he gave him a chance. Let’s see how next week plays out.

Yea but they atleast win some of there “big games” lol

Why do I have the feeling that Dino starting DeVito this season would be like Belichick starting Cam Newton over Mac Jones. That Dino either can see, or can’t fix, all the obvious flaws in TDs game for THREE seasons is incomprehensible. Dino’s reaped what he sowed. Might have been worthwhile to recruit a few more playable QBs over the past 4 years, eh?

Devito waits too long to run. Schrader runs too soon. We are really clicking!
Its almost like our scheme’s either unrealistic or non existent, so neither has much of a choice

Unfortunately Dino seems to have a one track mind. He made Tommy his QB, when he was recruited, and will live and die with him.

I actually think we have playable QBs
