Does the frustration of the fanbase even matter to the AD?

It’s beyond time, but that debate is old and has been debated for the last 7-8 years.

We are 15-15 and 9-10 in a 3-bid ACC.

We have lost to Colgate & VCU this season.

Name me another program that has had 8 (EIGHT) straight 10+ loss seasons and had a 77-year old resurrect to a Top 25 level.

It’s over. Not coming back with this coach. The quicker JB figures this fact out, the better off all SU fans (and my sanity) will be.
Throw in the Georgetown loss too. They might go winless in the Big East. Pathetic.

If you'd told me fifteen years ago that in 2022 I'd live in the Syracuse area, have two kids and disposable income, and have no connection to the basketball program...I don't even know. I don't think you could've convinced me that that was possible.

But here we are, after having season tickets for 28 years, traveling to countless away and NCAA games, being an over-the-top fan of the team. That's what this administration's done from my perspective.

To the question in the OP, though, doesn't seem like the AD's hurting for money. Even a Duke home game in a crappy season seems to bring in more revenue than probably 99% of the basketball games ever hosted in the Dome, with once-a-season people shelling out $150 to get into the building. So they're fine without me. But the lost-generation thing does seem like a shame, especially when you consider that college athletics is in large part about cultivating alumni donors and future applicants.
It’s a sad situation. I wish we could just gather signatures for a grievance letter to the AD but I doubt we’d get more than a handful because many just don’t care anymore. It’s frightening how priorities change quickly but it’s human nature to adapt. I’m resentful that I’m losing out on a potential bonding opportunity with my kids over SU sports.

Also listen to damn JB in the postgame complaining about all the minutes his guards had to play like it wasn’t the damn plan the entire team how he constructed the roster.
Then he complains ahout no Jesse like the world can’t remember all the complaints he has thrown at him.
Sorry but this stuff is really frustrating. The double speak and saying stuff is garbage.
Basically 7 available scholarship players for the game.

You would think that is a team that is in the middle of NCAA sanctions hammered on them to be in this predicament, yet here we are by the decisions of the legendary JB.

They have a bunch of wins against no one and like us they were throttled by this boards beloved Duke team. We aren’t even talking about top 25.

Top 40?

What are we freaking Providence or Seton Hall?

Good grief.
I wouldn't mind being Providence or Seton Hall. Providence is in the top 15 and I think the Hall is going to the dance.

JB's world...
A team doesn't need more than 1 defense...
A team doesn't need to box out...
A team doesn't need a bench of more than 2 guys...
A team doesn't need to look to run...
A team doesn't need to be proficient passing the ball...
A team doesn't need more than 1 out of bounds play...
And it doesnt need a natural PG

I mean yeah to an extent - He did piss-poor roster planning/mgmt but then there were injuries in the past weeks/days

Relevant. People weren't going to watch SU. They were going to watch Duke.

That's like saying SU doesn't have a football attendance problem because they had a lot of people at the Clemson game.

For sure, but if SU only cares about generating revenue (most of which comes from TV but a lot of which is generated by the gate and concessions at big basketball games), they'll take it.

I don't care for dynamic pricing for other reasons, but here it sure works at cross-purposes with our goal of holding the basketball coach accountable for fielding a crappy team. If enough people come out to watch marquee opponents regardless of the appeal of the home team, SU won't feel the heat.

And this really grinds my gears more than anything.

I hate seeing so many Duke fans in the dome.

Most of them can’t even find Durham on a map.

Its pathetic.

I go to watch Syracuse.

Not deal with inebriated 20 and 30 something year old Duke fans who casually care about college basketball and just want to get Drunk.

I don't even recognize the guy who would conspire to leave work early during the BET to sneak to MSG. Even in 2018 I flew to Detroit spur of the moment for the TCU game.

I genuinely miss it. I miss posting here hourly and constantly checking the board. Now it's just sad and I don't want to be the guy who only chimes in after losses.

I don't think this was the game to complain about the roster. Not with three players out with injuries. Plus, UNC only played six guys not counting McAdoo's token two minutes. And, If you watched the Baylor vs Texas game, between two top-25 teams, both of them basically only played seven. So, it's not just us. Yes, there are rosters issues, but when three guys are injured, and we still should have won on the road in a hostile environment, it's probably not the game to complain. Plenty of others, but not this one.

Agreed on the injuries part, but this why you go 12 deep on scholarship not 10, its in the event of injuries, suspensions, etc
Its a numbers game and JB didnt play it so he cant whine about Joe and Buddy going 45 mins

We haven’t fallen far enough?!?! Have you taken a look at our last 8 seasons?
You can't look at it from our perspective. Look at what the national media would see. A HOF NC winning head coach that has always been loyal to the school and had 45 straight winning records was forced out. If we saw any other program do that, we'd talk about how entitled they are. That's exactky how we would be viewed. Changes need to be made quietly behind the scenes.

That is fair, but 30 games in, guys will be banged up. Every team is dealing with this.

Coach had to mention that Joe and Buddy had to play 45 in the presser so its fair game.

Did anybody have confidence they were gonna win it in OT with Cole having 4 fouls?

Lol well there's that

You don’t really get it. It’s cool though.
Maybe I don’t, I’ll be honest I stopped reading critically after the original commenter claimed that this board is full of “Duke fans” because we can recognize other teams who are playing well and are very talented.

Those teams are playing 6 or 7 very good players that are going to be playing in April.

I think it depends on how important Athletics and Basketball are to the school in general.

Does SU have fewer applicants than in 09-14? Could he show a great program can increase applicants? Could he show that the decline in the program has had a negative effect on attendance over the last 8 years? etc.

I think it takes massive email campaign to his office and to Syverud for them to take notice and even that probably wont do much until the big donors start complaining to him.

A couple other things is the media, Axe finally had a column asking will Jim know when he is no longer the right man to coach the program? He delicately asked this and discussed on his show. But him and the rest of the guys on ESPN Syracuse are so careful to not to be critical because then they will lose their access to the program and lose them as guests on their show. Even Mike Waters yesterday was gushing about the great candidates currently on the bench and how JW would be making a mistake going outside because those guys will want to stay here forever like JB. I wanted to call in and be like, Mike, those guys dont even get interviews at your SUNY Binghamton, Niagara, Canisius, etc level programs, so whats makes them qualified here?

I think its going to take a really bad season, like a 10-20 type season where they force him into retirement. Its either that or JW will have to go to Syverud and get reinforcements from the BOT to no longer continue his contract, either routes are ugly.

Playing 7 is fine when the 7 are really good, like in 2010.

When there’s guys who do one thing well that play pretty much the whole game, that’s an issue.

Imagine Mookie Jones playing 37 mpg in 2010. That’s basically what’s happened this year.

Agree with you. Can't force out JB. But we can force him to make a change and hire from outside the program as a coach in waiting. That's the only way we would get a top assistant to come here right now. We're going to be hiring an assistant coach with no experience anyway, might as well be one who can bring in top 25 recruits again.

Why does JB govern access? That control decision should be higher up.
