FWIW, strong possibility of PINSTRIPE Bowl

I can respect that. The sport for me (syracuse aside) has soured for me the last 15 years. Growing up in the 80's and even the 90's it was so much fun to watch. Now its the sec and everyone else and the post season is terrible. More than half of the division one hoops teams have a legit shot of winning an ncaa game. You cant say that about college football. There isnt a wichita state or butler in the college football world

I know what you're saying and respect your feelings. Easier to put together a quality basketball team, though, with one or two good recruiting classes. The rich still rule in hoops, however. Duke, Kentucky, Michigan, Louisville, Michigan State, Arizona, Ohio State, Syracuse, North Carolina, Kansas. Throw in a few others. Doesn't change much from year to year. Says a lot when a Syracuse football program, mired in mediocrity, was able to go on the road a year ago and beat a Missouri program that is playing for the SEC title this year.

Does Tim Hortons do a goid business down there?

They try. I think their bagels are better than d&d but their coffee blows. There is one right across from a d&d near my house and its no contest ar who gets more biz

Summed it up perfectly. A December game against Nova over a bowl game? C'mon now.

Yes, a December game that will ultimately have an effect on ranking, postseason seeding, etc. or a bowl game between two teams that barely got to .500 that will mean literally nothing except for winning your final game.

Well, we do have a corner of our dome that commemorates our Pinstripe Bowl victories. With the amount of Bowls that struggle to fill seats, I think finding a team that's either a huge brand name or a local team is a top priority. And if I know Doctor Gross like I think I know Doctor Gross, New York's College Team wants to play in Yankee Stadium again.

Given the Villanova hoops game conflict and the potential Big East opponent in that bowl, it wouldn't surprise me if Gross would like a year off from Pinstripe. Then be first on their menu when it's ACC vs B1G in the future. But he has to be careful not to box himself out of bowls altogether. Beggars can't be choosers in this case. We need those 15 practices and to be referred to as a "bowl team".

i see a couple of tim horton's springing up along the river. i know there's one in ogdensburg and another just recently opened in watertown.

And this is coming from someone who is a football season ticket holder, who went to the bowl game last year and had a blast and may still go to the bowl game this year.

Yea, that happened to Dunkin when they tried Canada. Funny how that works. Personally ill take Dunkin anyday over tims

I'm a huge SU football fan, but how is a game pitting two top 25 basketball teams against one another worse than a meaningless bowl game featuring two 6-6 teams???

Calling the bowl game meaningless is a direct insult to this team. This team busted its ass to get to 6-6 overcoming a slew of injuries along the way. And for a team picked by some in the media to finish 13th out of 14 ACC teams, that's a pretty solid accomplishment.

Post of the night. YOU WIN.

And you care about ranking because? And a loss to Nova in Decenber is going to mean almost zero regarding seeding 3 months later. It's a meaningless game. Bowl games are a reward to a team that deserves much more support than it gets. Sounds like you just aren't much of a football fan, which is perfectly fine.

Bravo. The basketball fans clearly don't get it.

Is it wrong to hope SU has 30k at the hoops game and 25k at the Pinstripe?

Would be a hell of a day for SU. And I'll probably be attending neither. Sigh. Military Bowl would be nice. I promise to go to that.

What effect will this game have on college football? Zero. It's great that the team was able to overcome a lot of obstacles and make a bowl game and I'm obviously extremely happy for them. But in the grand scheme of things, being .500 and playing a game in front of a half empty stadium that has no consequences whether you win or lose is not really much of an accomplishment. Will I root for them to win? Of course. Hell, I might even be there in person to root them on. But trying to convince me that this bowl game is more important than a regular season matchup of top 20 (or possibly better) college basketball teams is pretty fruitless.

I've been a season ticket holder since the G-Rob days. Went to every single one of those god-awful home games during his tenure. I've traveled to Penn State and Georgia Tech for games. Went to the Pinstripe Bowl last year. I think it's safe to say that I'm a pretty big football fan.

I dont get it, syracuse leads attendance in basketball with like avg 28,000? Correct me if im wrong and good football teams get 110 000..

Hard to watch a hoops game with 100,000 people there.

this is unfortunate that the Pinstripe Bowl is the same day as the Nova game. I was really looking forward to attending the Nova game.

With that said after hoping for any bowl for the past decade football comes first. I only care about 2 programs, Syracuse Football, and Basketball. I love both equally, and I would think it would be a no brainer for anyone who says they care equally for both programs. Let's not act like going to a bowl is our right. just 5 years ago we would have been celebrating. I have seen Nova at the dome with 33k+, I think I can miss a Decemeber non-conference game with them.

With that said I really hope it's another bowl, although I really enjoy the Pinstripe Bowl.

if bc is indeed going to heart of dallas bowl that means either music city or independence bowl will be open to us or pitt and since pitt has went to deep south for bowl games 2 straight years and the fact that we are regarded as better traveling school I think we would get the nod.

in this scenario I see bowls going like so:
(I have bowls in selection order)
Championship: Florida State
Orange bowl: Clemson
Chick fila Bowl: Miami
Russell Athletic Bowl: Virginia Tech(despite going last year)
Sun Bowl: Duke
Belk Bowl: North Carolina
Music City Bowl/Independence Bowl: Georgia tech/Syracuse
Military Bowl: Maryland
Heart Of Dallas Bowl: Boston College
Pinstripe/Little Caesars Bowl: Pittsburgh

No offense, but that's a horrible example.

Once March rolls around what implications will this game have? It's not going to overly effect seeding? When Nova gets bounced in the 2nd round will they really care about getting rolled in the Dome in December? Or when Cuse makes the FF will we really care?

But if we win this bowl game we will be touting how we won 3 out of 4 bowl games in 5 years.

Bowl game is far more meaningful for a program on the upswing
