Not advocating for Shafer but not as many blowouts? You turning games off at the 1/2 and only checking final scores after garbage time? Dino is the king of getting blown-out when he shouldn't. See last week for starters. There's that 2019 Maryland disaster. Just last year he got blown out by NoCar, Liberty, Wake, Clemson, Louisville, and ND. Should we even discuss getting our doors blown off by a 0-4 Duke team?
There have been a lot of big Ls under Dino.
2016 7 of 8 losses we trailed by 19 or more at one point in the game
34 point loss to Louisville
25 point loss to USF
17 point loss to Notre Dame in NJ
19 point loss at Wake
54 point loss at Clemson
31 point loss to FSU
15 point loss at Pitt where we trailed by 29 at one point
The only "close" loss was a 15 point loss to NC State. How the heck did Ward keep his job after that?
2017 3 of 8 losses were by 21 or more
21 point loss to Wake
46 point loss at Louisville
28 point loss to BC
We trailed at NC State by 19 at half but only lost by 8. We also lost to Middle Tennessee at home which feels like a blowout.
2018
33 point loss to Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium
2019 5 of 7 losses we trailed by 21 or more points at one point
43 point loss at Maryland
35 point loss to Clemson
18 point loss at FSU
21 point loss to BC
22 point loss at Louisville
2020 6 of 10 losses we trailed by 21 or more at one point
25 point loss at UNC
17 point loss to Liberty
26 point loss at Clemson
24 point loss to Wake
30 point loss at Louisville
24 point loss at ND
2021
38 point loss at Louisville
That is a lot of games that were not close. This year though has been a bunch of close losses up until last weekend. If we add 2 more to end the year, Dino should go. How can people look at the above and say we are more competitive?
EDIT
That comes out to 24 games where we trailed by 19 points or more at some point in the game. That is an average of 3 a year. Plus Middle Tennessee and you have 25 bad losses. That is almost as many bad losses as his 29 total Ws.
