Here's the truth. UCONN became successful the day it hired Jim Calhoun, not the day it started playing Syracuse.

We hire Calhoun and keep him for 25 years and we would have had fantastic success. We get in the BE and don't get Calhoun? See Seton Hall or BCU.

I hear Calhoun took the job because he wanted to coach against Jim Boeheim. You're welcome. (This may or may not be true. I don't care. You are a UConn fan on an SU message board. )

From 2006-9, Florida State was going nowhere with 7-6 records w/ Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher as their OC.

From 2006-9, Boise State won 2 Fiesta Bowls.

Syracuse - 27-23

uconn- 20-28

That "current" enough for you. And 25 years is a cute number, seeing as we finished in the top 15, 12 years ago. When's the last time uconn did that? Oh, they haven't? Carry on then

I miss the days when UCONN was about to join BE football and prevalent wisdom on here was that it would be a decade before we would even be within 3 TD's of you guys.

Fact is the SU board has a pretty bad record when it comes to predicting how UCONN will do.

PS: Did you see Newsome went for 492 yards and 7 TD's last night in the state quarter finals. How do you guys think he'll be for UCONN?

Have you ever stepped foot in NYC? On the streets of Manhattan I see maybe one UConn shirt/hat for every 10 people I see with syracuse gear. I see more Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and even Rutgers gear than I do UConn. You were just outdrawn at MSG by Indiana and Maryland putdrew you in Brooklyn. You should really worry about actually filling up Gample and the Civic Center before you proclaim anywhere out of the Hartford metro area to be UConn country.

I'm all for some good flame wars, but these threads are nuts. On both sides.

We're friggin Syracuse, we're really good and we're going to stay really good. It doesn't matter to us if UConn stays strong or falls apart. Really...who cares? Has no effect on us. A strong UConn can't hurt a strong Syracuse. We're going to get our recruits regardless.

And UConn message board fans are incredibly dumb. But that's no reason to not want to play them. Again...who cares? Since some dork on the internet who calls himself "Fishy" makes dumb posts about Syracuse, I shouldn't want to watch Syracuse play UConn? C'mon.

It's been a great on court rivalry, and at this point would still be likely to produce great games.

If they fall apart due to their crappy league, then again...who cares? So don't play them anymore, if they no longer move the needle.
