Lets play a series with UConn

In five years we will still be closer to our last championship than exCUSE is right now. Face it, it is your program, university and city facing the cliff. UConn will be just fine.

Tune into ESPN on February 1st and let me know how the cliff looks. Notice who isnt playing big boy basketball on that day.

Good luck with Houston 2 days prior.

For a board so keen or cuse taking the bait it's funny how all you husky bums cant resist from coming over here and spewing your insecure garbage. Go back to your sanctuary to rot.

uconn fans are so insecure. Deep down, they know that the beginning of the end is upon them, bur rather than face reality they descend like a plague of locusts, chirping dopey rationalizations, just like that annoying looney tunes dog.

"Hey--look at us, look at us... we're still relevant!"
"Look at us... did you see that recruit we just got?"
"Hey Syracuse... we may have just gone 2-9 and you might be bowl eligible, but we're going to hire a REALLY GOOD COACH!"
"Hey Spike... we barely beat a mediocre florida team at home...ain't we good?"

Granted, they have 3 nc's. However, they are truly forgettable because they didn't beat anybody other than Duke the first year. The other two were basically a joke that no one remembers. Two of our nc games were absolute classics, against Indiana and Kansas, while the third was a very close loss to Kentucky, a team many think was one of the greatest of all time. Strangely enough, I was actually at the game where UConn beat Duke in St. Petersburg, and actually rooted for them. I have since recovered from that dread disease and wouldn't root for them now if they played against Hitler, BinLaden, Saddam Hussein, Atilla the Hun, and Khadaffy. The sad thing about that is that I'm not kidding.

They can talk about 3 to 1 all they want. Here is the only difference:

Georgia Tech/Butler vs. Indiana/Kentucky

Thats all it boils down too. If it makes them feel better then let them roll with it.

To be fair, if you are going to bring up the keith smart jump game, you have to also consider the FL game when Donyell missed two free throws, the Ray Allen UCLA game, the Caron Butler MD game, the George Mason game. Calhoun took several teams to the elite 8 who, with a few bounces, could have won it all. The Kemba team was a bit of karmic payback for those losses.

But that's the rub. It's always hard to win it all. Always.

Except in 2011, when it was REALLY easy.

Your reply has little to do with what that poster was saying. You're reply has more to do with a post saying, if not for Onuaku's injury or Fab Melo being academically ineligible we might have one or two more NCs now.

The point of the post you are replying to was that we lost to BLUE BLOOD teams in two NC games and beat a THIRD blue blood for our NC.

You've beaten Duke. Congrats. But your other two wins were against GT and Butler. Personally, I don't care who you beat to win an NC. I'll take a win over Austin Peay for the NC anyday. Just pointing out that your reply, other than your last statement, has little to do with the post your replied to.

Cheers,
Neil

Congrats on losing to more prestigious programs.

In 2004, we won our tourney games by 17,17, 20, 16 to get to the FF. In the FF, we beat 1 seed Duke despite not having Okafor for much of the game and then blew out GT in the final. Spin all you want, but that was the best team in college basketball that year. It had 7 players drafted into the NBA.

The 1999 team only lost 2 games all season and won its tourney games by 25,22,10 & 5 points to get to the FF. It beat a Duke team that was being discussed as the greatest team in BB history.

More prestigious programs? What an arrogant, trifling pissant you are.

And that applies to not just you, but your entire fanbase. Anyone who has been to the BET knows exactly what I'm talking about. And that's precisely the reason that when the bottom falls out for your third rate sports programs, Syracuse fans won't feel sorry for your misfortune. Couldn't happen to a more deserving fanbase.

I'm talking about nc games. If you want to talk about elite 8 or sweet 16's, I've got 15 or 20 to talk about, the worst being in the Elite 8 where Higgins called a technical on Moten for calling TO with 4 seconds left against Arkansas. We had a 1 point lead at the time. Moten never completed the act of making a "T" with his hands and withdrew at the last instance. However, Higgins had a chance to grandstand, and he would never give up that opportunity.

They need to keep playing. Whether you disdain them or not, over the last 15 years, they are a real good college basketball team, and SU and UConn have played many excellent games. If they were to regress to a mediocre team, then sure, don't bother, but if they're a high level northeast team, they should keep playing. SU should play out-of-conference SJU, Gtown, Nova, UConn, and if they could Maryland, that's the key recruiting ground, they need to keep a claim on it, even without the Big East / AAC.

That was actually a second round game but still that team was going to the FF had they gotten past Arkansas.

Well, I have to tell you as a fan who has experienced it 3 different times in 3 different ways, its ALL SWEET.

ALL OF THEM.

Each is special in their own way.

That recruiting ground is replaced by BC. UConn should be left to rot.

Cool go circle jerk about it on your forum. Because we just don't give shiit.

hey i've got nothing against uconn. i respect the program they built. but as long as we are competing with uconn for recruits (and they've stolen a ton from us)
the less exposure they get is what's best for SU hoops. thus no more games.

god you and all the other boneyard scum are hopelessly delusional. seriously, go on believing your big win against florida the other night means anything at all, go on believing bazbaz will lead you to anything, go on believing ollie is the answer, go on believing your program has any kind of future.
It will truly be a pleasure to observe the crash and burn of ucon basketball these next few years. I will relish every second of the butthurt boneyard schadenfreude as it transpires.
Clueless dipsh1ts

There is very little SU has to be worried about relating to BC as far as recruiting goes in hoops. That program died shortly after they left for the ACC, because they weren't good enough to draw interest in a pro sports town when playing teams the few college sports fans in Boston don't care about. There's nothing wrong with their program, it just suffers from NE-fan-apathy. I do wish SU had a football stadium along the lines of Alumni Stadium, but a rivalry with UConn is more valuable, because SU & UConn compete for the same recruits; and owning them would be more important than owning BC. They couldn't get a sniff of interest from Nerlens Noel and he lived ten miles from the campus.

I never got the whole argument that non SU fans keep saying how we will "be like BC in 10 years". Like you said BC is about 10th on the sports I care about list of people who live in Boston if I can speak for people who actually live in that state.

SU hoops is #1 in our area during basketball season and will always be on the front pages nationally

Quick question to sdhusky. Why are you here? If you are great as you think you are, simply let history judge you and be above the fray. If you think you are going to sway anyone's mind over here, you're dumber than your posts. Fact remains, NO major conference wants you and your best days are behind you.
