Marrone

Showed the gate Adios

He was showed the gate? Yeah that's what happened.

He wasn't fired, he had a meeting, had a couple of requests. It sounds like they weren't met, even though Carrucci is reporting that a raise and extension were offered by the Bills, and Marrone left because of uncertainty with the management structure going forward.

Right, that's the winning formula. Adios. Now instead of being a qb away you're starting over with a new qb, gm, and staff. Way to dig the hole even deeper Pigula. At least you Bills fans are used to it by now.

Just to be clear we agree. Pegula didn't show him the gate, I was telling statesman to Adios.

4 mil is a lot to overcome if the guy has another job lined up. Who knows what pegula actually wanted. Even if he didn't like Marrone he could offer him a new deal knowing it wouldn't be four million better than what anyone else would give Marrone.

Will be funny if Marrone coaches geno, he owes him. Will also be funny if Marrone goes to Chicago. It's like jauron in reverse. Now there are rumors of Brandon being considered for other jobs. That has gotta be Brandon leaking that, I just don't believe it. I bet terry and Kim pegula are thinking what have we gotten ourselves into. They'll be fine, just need to start over, write a check to a good gm and stop having so many cooks in the kitchen

You are silly. How did pegula show him the gate. Brandon gave Marrone four million bucks on the off chance that a hundred eighty year old guy kicks the bucket.

Brandon should avoid being in life insurance in his next gig

Bill Polian was considering coming back because Marrone was there. He told them today thanks but no thanks.
That is really nonsense. Polian has steadfastly refused all offers from many franchises and he repeatedly said this story was false. He thinks highly of St Doug but that is it.

Considering it was a direct quote to Vic Carruci I guess it isn't nonsense.

"Polian, 72, has been adamant that media reports about his impending return to Buffalo whether this week or next month were erroneous. Pegula never made a formal offer to Polian, but the two men had discussions about a prominent position.

Polian reinforced to Pegula that his desire to stay with ESPN was set in stone. Polian has resisted overtures from other franchises, too."

"Polian said he spoke w Terry Pegula over holidays about a mentoring/advisory role. Things changed w Orton's retirement & Marrone's leaving."

"Polian said job changed to a "real heavy lift. Hire new coach, hire staff, etc., etc." "

I guess what I posted above wasn't nonsense.

Polian probably told Pegula he's nuts if he gives Marrone and staff an extension after just 2 years.

Nickel's worth of free advice but I don't have the energy to take on the project that will result from this obvious decision.

You mean the one they offered?

You mean the one they offered?

Oh yeah, I forgot, you mentioned that they did offer one so he came up with some other reason.

I guess saying I just want my $4M wouldn't enlighten him much in the eyes of other owners, even if it still twinkles some eyes here.

As I said yesterday, good luck to whoever gets him. Short term, high maintenance, thin skin.

Maybe the Bills will actually discover and hire one of your 6 billion. Can't wait to see the Bills record next year at this time now that they've gotten rid of that dead weight Marrone. Myself, I'm hoping that HCDM tires of the NFL in a few years and does a Harbaugh by returning to his alma mater.

Cool story bro.

You're telling me he could've won 10 with a great defense and a good QB? Sweet. That puts him in the same category as six billion other people.
Bills fans should be happy to get a tenth win, or even be in the conversation to get there. They act like they're a perennial powerhouse that win double digit games every year. You finally get a coach who can get that team to 9 wins with bad injuries and it's not good enough. Beggars can't be choosers. Be happy with the 9 and see if next season you can get to 10 or 11. It's certainly possible. If Marrone goes to Atlanta or NYJ and the Bills end up with 5-6 wins next year, they don't deserve Doug's success.

I know other fans are so much better because they've had better QBs. Excpectations should be mediocrity because Ralph was senile towards the end and JP Lossman stunk, we get it.
You're obviously clueless if you think this year's team was hit especially hard by injuries by NFL standards - they got off easy in that regard. Not to mention the incredibly lucky NE forfeit & Detroit missing 75 FG's.
"OMG RECORD!". Bring back Mike Mularkey too.

You do realize that the NFL is cyclic, right? When the Bills were winning 10-13 games a year and contending for Super Bowls consistently from 1988-95, the Patriots were awful. Like worse than Buffalo over any point of this current 15-year playoff drought. This current downward cycle of the Bills has gone longer than most, but it's going to turn around. It's just a matter of time. That's the nature of the NFL.

Doug Marrone is an average football coach. You can argue starting points and everything else all you want. For a guy with such an offensive background, his team's offenses over the last seven years both in NCAA and NFL have been downright pathetic.

The amount of luck he had during his final years at SU and Buffalo is astronomical.

Syracuse - USF victory in last minute, Missouri win in last minute, Pitt win due to defensive TD. He was 3 plays away from going 4-8.

Buffalo - Detroit win where FG kicker missed all 3 FGs, Minnesota win in last minute, NE win where Pats didn't care. He's 3 plays away from going 6-10.

Those plays are going to even out over time. And he will be fired from his next job because of it.

This is not even mentioning his unwillingness to change and his abrasive attitude towards players, media and front office personnel. He's got an awful big ego for someone that hasn't won squat.

What goes around comes around. Marrone is going to get what he deserves at some point.

At the end of the day shame on the bills mgmt for allowing such a clause. That is on them. As for Bologna. He has proven he is a good coach and but yet to prove he is an elite coach. The one thing he has proved, he has zero loyalty to school, communty, team or players. For that..... I dislike.

This is a steaming pile of garbage, from start to finish.

That average football coach has maximized his value. Credit to him for turning his ability into millions for he and his family- truly an example of a success story.

Yep. Definitely have to credit him and his agent from a financial standpoint. He's done great there.

But at some point you have to ask yourself why at both the college and NFL he's been able to alienate so many people. And many of them before he left either place. IMO he makes his job tougher and less satisfying.

It's so shocking that anyone on the other side would agree to it. Brandon is such a bozo and ej and Whaley will get another year. It's incredible

Seems to me that he's like a lot of head coaches in any sport. He wants everything done his way. Why do you think Harbaugh is going back to Michigan or why Bielema and Anderson have left Wisconsin? It's all Parcells' fault with his grocery shopping philosophy.
