Marrone

You're relying on some unsourced BS from a guy from Bleacher Report for a shot. Good job there with the MDS. He picked Manuel? That's probably news to Buddy Nix, Doug Whaley, and the Bills scouting department. Did he participate, sure he did. Did he make the pick, no. And who exactly did he get rid of? It's pretty clear that he didn't run the draft based on the fact that he was asking for control of the 53 man roster, let alone the draft.
I prefer to rely on your golf outings

Lot of revisionist history on Manuels drafting. It may have been a Bills pick where everyone was involved and in agreement, but it's also the guy Marrone wanted. He gushed about him and his arm, feet and leadership. I remember him talking about Nassib, Manuel, and Barkley. In fact some people here got upset about some things he said about Nassib.

Well I know what I was told by someone who would know. Are you saying you know/believe that Bleacher Report guy is right and that they gave Marrone authority to make that pick?

New York Jets: Former Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone will interview with the Jets on Saturday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

I won't disagree because I just don't know who had the most influence on the pick but what do you expect a head coach to say about his team's first round QB pick? I don't recall him saying anything negative about Nassib though I know Nassib felt hurt the Bills snubbed him.

Who knows what the truth is regarding that decision. That organization has always seemed to be dysfunctional in the front office, but it stands to reason that if one of the things (allegedly) St. Doug was holding out for was more control over personnel it throws some cold water on that version. Doug wouldn't be the first coach to whiff on picking a qb though- but it does seem reasonable that he would at least have input.

You think Marrone would quietly accept a qb he didn't want? We would've heard about it sooner

Right, because submarining your brand new 1st round qb in the media because you didn't get your way is sound football strategy. Too many conspiracies coming out of Buffalo now that Marrone has moved on- total cya and fighting over the scraps. You guys are screwed, but good luck to you anyway.

No need to spin spin.

Yeah, because clearly Jason Cole - a writer with no affiliation to the Bills - has great incentive to spin this story.

It's pretty amusing how people here who clearly pay little to no attention to the Bills are now experts on the inner workings of their front office.

Right. Writers with no affiliation to the Bills are clearly plugged in to the inner workings of the Bills.

Yeah, I mean, they have no sources (like colleagues in WNY) or anything like that.

But hey, let's take the inane ramblings of the Marrone Fan Club as fact.

Actually if you read my post two lines above, I admit it's entirely plausible Marrone had input and whiffed on the qb. How the hell should I or anyone else know how the EJ pick was influenced by the Bills power structure. I do know the front office people remaining behind have incentive to get their version of history out. St. Doug is probably giving his version as we type to the Jets right now. If Cole is getting his information second hand from your unknown colleagues (why they'd let themselves be scooped doesn't make much sense) then he's a gossip columnist, not a journo. But we all know sports journalism is about being heard these days an not necessarily about being accurate.

As a Bills fan, i am extremely pissed and disappointed the Bills let him walk. I am foreseeing Marrone going to the Jets and Jets becoming relevant again in 2-3 years and winning the division over the Bills. This organization is shocking sometimes. Good coaches are hard to come by in that league. Marrone is as close as the Bills have had to a good coach since Levy and they let him walk. I hope Pegula has HC in mind to replace Marrone.

Because Marrone is such a team player , right?

Do you honestly think the Bills are going to find anyone better right now? He led them to their first winning season since 2004, and was a few plays away from going 11-5 this year and playoff-bound. He has no QB (albeit he had a large say in drafting Manuel), but he was able to win games with one of the worst offenses in the league. His defense was great and you can thank him for bringing in Schwartz, who was an upgrade over Pettine. If given the extension, which is all he wanted for him and his assistants, I think he would've had the bills as legit playoff contenders by next season or 2016. That organization is a joke, and there's no arguing that, and they finally had the CEO-type coach that frankly they needed. The Jets will own the Bills when he ends up there. I hope the haters like the taste of crow.

Again, the Bills had NO CHOICE. So what do you want Bills fans to do, sit around and praise the Saint, and just cry about it, accepting we'll never win again? He deserted the team so *** him his the attitude every single Bills fan should have.

He was also a few plays, and Pats game scheduled earlier, from being 6-10. No one ever mentions the other side.

There are better coaches out there and there are worse ones. It's equally possible to find either. Hopefully one that can stay with a job longer.

Some of you all in Marrone guys have the absolute weirdest reactions to this.

Yes, the Bills have sucked since 2000. What is your point?

Other than the D and Dan Carpenter, the team sucked this year too.

Their winning record, which seems to be the feather in Marrone's cap, isn't anything special considering that the majority of AFC teams were at least 9-7.

Man you Bills fans can't stand even a taste of prosperity. What you're suggesting happened didn't actually happen. There was no sniping to the media by Marrone about EJ to the press. He just went out and benched him and picked up a guy off the street who played better. Honestly you Bills Fans live in Candy Land looking for your unicorn coach with tin foil hats.

LOL...now he only has 6 wins.

Actually it's much harder to find a good coach than a bad one otherwise even the hapless Bills would have swerved into one by accident by now. They've certainly had the practice you guys should be experts in hiring coaches.

Yeah but by Buffalo standards 9-7 is exceptional. Winning seasons are like Haley's Comet to you people.
