Marrone

Yeah, because clearly Jason Cole - a writer with no affiliation to the Bills - has great incentive to spin this story.

It's pretty amusing how people here who clearly pay little to no attention to the Bills are now experts on the inner workings of their front office.

Does declaring that Marrone made the Manuel pick and had people who disagreed removed in anyway accurately reflect your in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of the Bills front office?

Are you saying that Marrone and not Nix/Whaley ran the draft and made the picks?

Man you Bills fans can't stand even a taste of prosperity. What you're suggesting happened didn't actually happen. There was no sniping to the media by Marrone about EJ to the press. He just went out and benched him and picked up a guy off the street who played better. Honestly you Bills Fans live in Candy Land looking for your unicorn coach with tin foil hats.
He distanced himself from the pick. You don't know anything. It's ok. I don't know anything about your favorite roller derby team

Again, the Bills had NO CHOICE. So what do you want Bills fans to do, sit around and praise the Saint, and just cry about it, accepting we'll never win again? He deserted the team so *** him his the attitude every single Bills fan should have.

He was also a few plays, and Pats game scheduled earlier, from being 6-10. No one ever mentions the other side.

There are better coaches out there and there are worse ones. It's equally possible to find either. Hopefully one that can stay with a job longer.

Some of you all in Marrone guys have the absolute weirdest reactions to this.

Actually the other side has been mentioned quite a bit on this thread. No one is suggesting Bills Mafia sit around pining away for St. Doug and accept your fate as losers. You make my point about taking this personally- he didn't "desert" the team so "**** him", he fulfilled his contract when the environment changed. He owes Buffalo nothing, and vice versa. Good luck finding a better coach and improving your team- I actually mean that sincerely. Living here in Rochester I'm surrounded by Bills fans, some even not so crazy, and when the Bills are decent it helps lightens the mood.

Roller derby? How do you know I'm into roller derby? Hold on tight to that unicorn horn and don't let go of that aluminum hat!

Either way, you know nothing about the Bills.

Stick to SU, and whatever NFL team you follow.

Right- I should stick to unnamed twitter sources like you and then I'll be up to speed on all the inner workings of the Bills. 6-10 or bust. Let's go Buffalo!

LOL...now he only has 6 wins.

It was in response to saying he almost had 11.

I also forgot that you Marrone fans don't like to read.

How come you didn't LOL at him having 11? (You probably didn't read that either just saw yay Marrone and clicked like).

that was in response to the claim that the Bills were "a few plays away from going 11-5 this year and playoff-bound"

The MFC isn't big on context, clearly.

I had the Bills at almost 15-1. St Doug working miracles yet again.

I didn't "declare" anything - I simply quoted someone who had posted a tweet from Jason Cole.

And I'm pretty sure that I never said that "Marrone and not Nix/Whaley ran the draft and made the picks". But, you knew that. IMO, that pick was the consensus of Marrone and the scouting staff.

Regardless, I'm quite sure that I follow and watch the Bills far more closely than you do. Similarly, I would expect that you follow and watch your NFL team far more closely than I do. FWIW, I do know a number of people who work in the front office for the Bills, and while I would never post here any details that I've been told, I will say that the guys that I know were not particularly fond of Marrone.

Nah, you know it all! Maybe St. Doug will poach you from the MFC and make you his spokesman.

I'm pretty sure some posters trying to distance Marrone from the EJ pick are the same ones who defended the pick because it was who Marrone wanted.

Is there an official story on that anywhere, or is just going to remain he said/she said forever. Much like the real reason for Marrone leaving.

That's very flattering, but I will have to decline. I'm not a fan of St. Doug, although I appreciate the rebuild at SU and think he did well at Buffalo. Never claimed to know it all (but I'm glad you think I do- I can think of no higher praise than from Millhouse from the syracusefan.com board) and I've admitted as such, especially when it comes to knowing the truth about the inner workings of selecting EJ- that I leave to experts on twitter. Hang on tight to your unicorn with both hands- don't let 'em buck ya!

I didn't say you declared it, it was the guy in the tweet who declared it. Since you are so plugged in, is it accurate or not, pretty simple question. You are tagging some importance to that declaratory statement, if so I'd expect you'd want to have some kind of actual truth behind it.

There were only about 15 of Grobs rejects left in Marrone's 4th year.

Agree. No impact players either. Especially on offense.

What?

Somebody, who should know better, quoted a tweet that put all the responsibility for the Manuel pick on Marrone. All I've said is that couldn't be further from the truth based on reports and quotes post draft right up until last Monday. It's always been the line from the Bills that it was a Nix/Whaley decision with input from the coaching and scouting staffs.

Never once has anything ever been said implying that Marrone "made" the pick.

No there weren't.

4 starters on offense, Nassib, Sales, Pugh and Lemon if you want to credit the last two to Robinson.

Stevens and Cutler on the two deep.

Andy Phillips played specials.

There was one Robinson recruit on the two deep defense, Dan Vaughn back up LB.

8 guys, three of which Marrone chose to keep in his first recruiting class, meaning five actual 5th year seniors on the best team SU had going back to 2001.

Yep, it was all about the stocked cupboard Robinson left.

Stocked cupboard isn't a term I would use in year 4.

I have really enjoyed this thread. Say what you want about the BFBSFHCDM but you have to give him credit for taking care of himself. Doug is almost as good as the Kardashian family when it comes to self promotion. As to coaching he would still be at Syracuse or fired if not for HCSS who saved his arse big time. I think that Doug is a solid CEO and would be better suited as a GM of a team than coach. At this i believe he would be exceptional as he does have a good eye for coaches. Not sure where he ends up hope for him it is with his beloved Jets. Both Doug and the Bills made a good move as the new administration was most likely going in a different direction after next year unless he did very well. Plus how do you not take the 4m? As to my feelings for him i never liked him after the way he treated my father in a meeting. He came across as a total ahole. Still he did wonders in turning around our program and for that we should all give him a pass.

That's one way to look at it
