Next time you defend SS or something I will use this one on you.

Ha! Didn't mean it that way. I got caught mid-response and had to drop my phone. No disrespect, honestly.

I'm obviously in over my head with legal stuff. I respect your position. I just don't think a win for either side means all that much at this point. Both sides have made things worse.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter From side of box used to sell official Super Bowl 49 footballs: manufacturer implies “air retention” could be issue. So while people before this crap had never heard of the Ideal Gas Law. Balls deflate when used and also the Pats had the ball over 19 minutes in the first half of the AFC title game. Including 11 minutes in the 2nd quarter. If you read the Wells Report and appeal hearing you see the science backs up the Ideal Gas Law of where the football should have been. If the NFL could prove the Pats cheated this case would be shut. The NFL can't prove anything even was done to the balls.

I don't think that explains away the "deflator" or destroyed phone. I don't think he was trying to be slick - just likes them a certain way, got caught - could have made it go away a dozen times since, but is trying to come out clean. It's not going to happen.

On the reverse side - the NFL could have squashed it a thousand times. Or how about just double their efforts to check the balls. If he does it again - you have real proof. Whole thing is silly.

NFL and Brady posturing outside of the school house, no one throws a real punch, no one backs down - and everyone thinks they are both tools.

I believe you but you can see where I thought your one word response was patronizing. If it was a mistake no big deal.

Deflator text is useless. The judge destroyed that. That text doesn't say that guy deflated footballs. He was interviewed by Ted Wells and no where in the report did his testimony appear.

The judge pointed out the Wells Report is based on the charge the Patriots/Brady was generally aware the balls were being deflated. No evidence has been shown their was cheating in the AFC title game.

The phone is just something the NFL used to score points in court of public appeal. Brady's texts to McNalley and Jagzerertski were already in possession by the NFL. Brady offered the names of everyone he texted. Wells admits he never told Brady he would be punished for not handing over the phone. Also, when this case was filed a bunch of Brady's private emails were published. Those emails showed why Brady didn't want to hand over his phone. We learned about Brady's anger at not having a white pool cover, what Brady thinks the shelf life of Manning's career is, and what Brady and Bridget Monyahan do to parent their child.

This whole thing is a witch hunt. The NFL wants to move the goal posts in what they have to do punish a player. If they could prove these charges they would have nailed the Pats. Instead, the have played the court of public opinion really well to get Brady worse than the actual facts of the case.

Um - yeah. I don't but that. Why would the NFL purposefully humiliate the best player? There's smoke. He did something. But I think he wasn't trying to skirt the rules or didn't think it was a big deal. And the public would gave forgiven him in a nano second had he said - "I like them a touch soft - but not under the limit. My mistake."

But as I said before - the ball pressure is almost irrelevant at this point. Now it's about egos and trying to win in court which both sides think will lead to them being "restored" in public perception. But it's not going to happen.

Please tell me what the Patriots did? Also how would they have done this on the road when the Patriots have no control over the balls when they are on the road.
Also if there was any evidence on the Patriots hell no would it have gone easier on them. The reason why this has gone as far as it has is because the Ravens/Colts/Jets owners want maximum penalties now with no evidence. Kraft took the team hit because he thought Goodell would lay off Brady with no evidence.

So your take is "nothing happened" and it's a vendetta vs the best player and org in football just 'cause?

I've never seen anything like it.. Literally every RB on a 5 man unit is dinged up, thank goodness none of it seems to be serious but coupled with Percy Harvin still being made of glass and losing Wynn and Powell for the season, yikes.

I do like Whaley's concept of bringing in former high round draft picks thinking that, with the right coaching and talent around them they can flourish. Signed Groves yesterday and I think may be on the verge of signing Red Bryant, along with IK, those are some solid FA additions to help offset the loss of LB/DE depth.

I was looking forward to watching Taylor start tonight with the rare game I get to watch on tv. But he won't have any regular WRs or RBs so not sure how much we'll really be able to tell from that.

My take is I don't think Brady told them illegally take air out of balls or ordered a code red thus he couldn't be generally aware of anything. That is what he was charged with.

I believe Brady likes the footballs soft and if you read the appeal he says the feel matters more than the air. He talked about how he likes his footballs prepared. He talks about how the balls were over-inflated in October 2014 and after that told the refs he wanted them at 12.5.

I don't think the NFL can prove anything happened and if you feel cheating took place there should be way more evidence. This deflator text doesn't show anything, the NFL interviewed these people and omitted their testimony or any testimony disputing their general aware finding. If you actual look at this case without a prism and look at like a Judge this case would be dismissed. Instead the NFL has given the team the biggest penalty in NFL history and suspended their best player 25% of the season.

While the Atlanta Falcons were found to pipe in music into the crowd for an advantage and admitted the charges were correct. The penalty for the Falcons was the loss of a 5th round pick. Patriots lost a 1st and 4th round pick and the NFL can't prove squat.

Bills have a deep WR core. Hogan and Goodwin are good WR and I believe they are your 4th and 5th WRs.
I wonder how Taylor does at reading defenses. I think if he shows upside you go with him over Cassel who seems likes a good backup.

Totally agree about Taylor over Cassel. I saw Cassel actually have a couple good years here in KC.. But I think that Cassel is gone forever and Taylor is cheaper also.

The NFL decided the case first, had evidence created to support it, ignored evidence in favor of the accussed, and is now stomping its feet in petulance, declaring the commissioner can do what he wants.

Exactly the NFL determined its decision before any evidence the Patriots were guilty existed. Somebody in the NFL office leaked false PSI numbers to Chris Mortensen. That report was false and still went uncorrected for 6 months. The NFL has leaked more bad information on the Patriots that is crazy. Then in these emails the NFL shows they wanted to make the Pats look bad.

So they hired "independent" investigator Ted Wells to do their work for them. After this case it is obvious Wells is paid to come to whatever conclusion the NFL hires him to find. I feel the Dolphins bullygate investigation was exactly what the finding the NFL wanted. Wells never investigated these leaks why? Also, why did the NFL general counsel edit this Wells Report before it being published if the NFL wanted an "independent" investigation.

Also, if you believe the investigation of the Ray Rice video where the NFL was cleared. I mean Goodell and his management team need to be flushed and flushed now. They have no integrity.

Funny I enjoy funny playful jokes it is what makes sports fun.
However it is hilarious how people are letting their hatred of the Patriots get in the way of being fair analyzing this case.

Um, yes they do! Teams/QB's prepare their own balls before each game and provide their own game balls each week. When Team A plays Team B each team uses their own set of footballs when they are on offense

Which is insane. Why won't the NFL just provide all the balls? Remove the opportunity for cheating all together.

lets see how this case ends up.

i still think he gets suspended.

You may be right about this, the whole thing may well be a witch hunt. However, I think you're failing to appreciate the motivations behind why there would be a witch hunt...why on earth would the NFL have any interest in "taking down" their Super Bowl champion and MVP QB???

I (unsurprisingly!) believe the answer fits in nicely with my long-running view that the NFL has been a fraud for a long-time with a WWF-like formula of making sure the strongest television "brand" teams did well, the TV contracts would grow like crazy (they have) and everyone in ownership would get rich if only they'd play along.

It's worked really well...the NFL even went so far to protect a tent-pole franchise a decade ago that they destroyed the incriminating spy-gate tapes after 2 days for no reason. No logical reason under the sun, unless it was to protect "the integrity of THEIR game", so to speak. So NOW, in 2015, the pendulum has swung too far, as you might expect...sure the OWNERS are worth a lot more, but the Coaches and Players who's livelihoods are at stake are revolting now, which explains the about-face on defending the Patriots at all cost. The other teams are turning them in behind the scenes about illegal behavior, etc. And so Goodell is now in the odd situation, I agree with you, of behaving in very strange ways towards his QB, who despite your demands for concrete evidence clearly did something that he was trying to hide. (if you want to be indignant, just consider that people have been put in prison on LESS evidence than the NFL has in this case, though I know you know that).

Anyway, it's all supposed to be entertainment, and it certainly has been.

WHY would the NFL want to take down a star Franchise and its star QB like this? You've got to read the tea-leaves to find your answers...

They used to. Till Brady, Manning, and Brees a few years back petitioned the league to change the rule to let QB's get worked in footballs that aren't "slick" and difficult to throw. The NFL found it to make sense (which it does, college football does the same thing, teams can select their own ball)...but leave it to Brady and the Pats to take advantage of the rule (allegedly)

True or false Roger Goodell held a press conference in a NYC hotel and showed the media the tapes the league confiscated from the Patriots?
