This whole thing is a witch hunt. The NFL wants to move the goal posts in what they have to do punish a player. If they could prove these charges they would have nailed the Pats. Instead said:
You may be right about this, the whole thing may well be a witch hunt. However, I think you're failing to appreciate the motivations behind why there would be a witch hunt...why on earth would the NFL have any interest in "taking down" their Super Bowl champion and MVP QB???
I (unsurprisingly!) believe the answer fits in nicely with my long-running view that the NFL has been a fraud for a long-time with a WWF-like formula of making sure the strongest television "brand" teams did well, the TV contracts would grow like crazy (they have) and everyone in ownership would get rich if only they'd play along.
It's worked really well...the NFL even went so far to protect a tent-pole franchise a decade ago that they destroyed the incriminating spy-gate tapes after 2 days for no reason. No logical reason under the sun, unless it was to protect "the integrity of THEIR game", so to speak. So NOW, in 2015, the pendulum has swung too far, as you might expect...sure the OWNERS are worth a lot more, but the Coaches and Players who's livelihoods are at stake are revolting now, which explains the about-face on defending the Patriots at all cost. The other teams are turning them in behind the scenes about illegal behavior, etc. And so Goodell is now in the odd situation, I agree with you, of behaving in very strange ways towards his QB, who despite your demands for concrete evidence clearly did something that he was trying to hide. (if you want to be indignant, just consider that people have been put in prison on LESS evidence than the NFL has in this case, though I know you know that).
Anyway, it's all supposed to be entertainment, and it certainly has been.
WHY would the NFL want to take down a star Franchise and its star QB like this? You've got to read the tea-leaves to find your answers...
